The Connecting with Fans at Home session comprises of the following 2 modules:
Bringing Live Online
In light of the recent disruption to the music industry as a result of Covid-19, artists need to find new ways to maintain their connection with audiences around the world, and to help sustain a living, with touring not currently an option. Whilst by no means a new technology, livestreaming has become significantly more popular as a result. Music Ally's 'Bringing Live Online' module will cover a range of platforms, case studies and lessons for artists. Besides the big platforms like Facebook Live, YouTube and Twitch, we'll be looking at newer and/or more-niche platforms like YouNow, and some of the creative ways that artists have been using them to connect and make money.
Creating Virtual Experiences
Looking beyond livestreaming, there are plenty of other opportunities for artists to create experiences which can serve as alternatives to live performances and touring. Technology such as Virtual Reality, and growth in other forms of entertainment (e.g. gaming), offer artists new possibilities in the type of experiences they can create for their fans. In this module, we explore examples of these alternative experiences as well as companies which can help artists to build these experiences. This module also outlines some considerations around licensing for livestreams.
PLEASE NOTE:
These sessions are delivered as part of Music Ally's Learning Hub. This means that instead of logging in at a set time or coming to the BPI offices, Music Ally will be offering access to bundles of 2 modules on their Learning Hub, for a week. The reasons we think this is exciting is:
•It will allow you to go through the course at your own pace
•The video training is accompanied by slides and additional reading materials
•You will get a quiz to help you test your knowledge!
We hope you enjoy them!
T&Cs:
Spaces for these modules are very limited – as they normally cost $99 to purchase individually (or $198 for a bundle). Please be respectful of this and make sure you go through the modules if you sign up for them. If not, we reserve the right to restrict your access to other learning hub courses, in order to give other people the opportunity to access these resources.
Please be aware that the learning platform has piracy tracking in place: the videos and slides are just for the viewing of those registered to that module and not for wider broadcast or sharing. Please respect the copyright of Music Ally.
