This year, we are excited to return to a LIVE Tribute as we present the 2021 Jazz Tribute Awards Concert on Saturday, December 4th, at The Montalban Theatre in Hollywood honoring the legendary drummer Peter Erskine. The Jazz Society will salute Peter for his amazing career appearing on 700 albums and film scores, with 50 albums under his own name or as co-leader, performing with big bands, symphonies and artists from Stan Kenton to Diana Krall and Joni Mitchell; and the recipient of two Grammy Awards.
Our concert event will also present Carmen Bradford with the Jazz Vocalist Award – she is one of the busiest jazz artists today performing in theatre, solo and with big bands such as the Count Basie Orchestra; multi Grammy Award winner Vince Mendoza, one of the most versatile and prolific composer-arranger-conductors of the last two decades, will receive the Composer/ Arranger Award; educator-composer-conductor Mitch Glickman will receive the Jazz Educator Award acknowledging his many years as Director of Music Programs at LACMA and youth outreach programs within LAUSD; and, talented young trombonist Evan Dexter will accept the 2021 Shelly Manne New Talent Award.

The annual Los Angeles Jazz Society’s Jazz Tribute Awards Concert celebrates jazz and the talented people who have made this extraordinary music their life’s passion - all to raise funds for their important jazz education programs, benefiting many thousands of young people in the LAUSD public schools each year.
This annual Tribute is the Society’s primary fundraiser and we hope you will help us continue our highly acclaimed programs (Jazz in Schools, Bill Green Mentorship Program, Jeff Clayton Memorial New Note Commission) by supporting this year’s Jazz Tribute.
