Limbic Resonance, 2011, Amanda Sage
Primary focus is on creating a painting from start to finish following a step by step method based on the Mischtechnik, an early European renaissance technique.
Re-discovered in the 1950s by Austrian artist Ernst Fuchs, the base concepts in this method of developing a painting is highly conducive for expressing transcendental subjects and rendering visions.
Fundamentals of the Mischtechnik have been adopted by many painters working with fantastic and visionary subject matter, as the transparencies and use of light in developing a painting are exquisite.
Amanda studied with Michael Fuchs as an apprentice for 2 years in Austria and then went on to be an assistant to Ernst Fuchs for 10 years. She has been painting in a similar method for over 20 years and has developed her own way of expressing and sharing it through over 10 years of teaching.
The most special part of these intensives is the collective magic that happens when like minded souls come together to create for a week.
She sees herself as a permissionary in teaching and facilitating ˜Painting with Light” by supporting each student in expanding their tool belt of skills in basic drawing and painting skills, as well as getting deeper in touch with what they really want to express through their art.
Everything at CoSM conspires to support deep focus and maximum painting time. Through attaining a blissful timeless state of connection with source, one becomes a transmitter, a conduit for creative expression. And once a taste of this has been had we crave to return to that state. Through exploring other perspectives, placing ourselves in new environments and being open to experience, we find our lives enhanced as painting with fresh light illuminates the path.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
You do not need to have prior knowledge of the Mischtechnik to attend this class, though some practice and experience with drawing and painting is necessary. Your passion and desire to participate is most important, so feel free to apply and tell us about yourself!
For those who have already studied the Mischtechnik, this workshop will help you deepen your knowledge and practice while expanding the lens of possibilities within your own work.
Mediums of focus in this masterclass are acrylic, oil and casein. Participants will be welcomed to work in oil or acrylic or both.
Participants will be invited to work on 2 different paintings.
1 main piece which will be 16×20” on panel and a smaller practice piece 11×14″ also on panel.
Basic materials will be provided, with a suggested list of additional materials to bring. A detailed materials list will be provided after registration.
Participants are also invited to put together 10 slides of their work, to present during the last couple evenings of the workshop.

Amanda Sage
Amanda Sage is an artist driven to contribute to the development of regenerative culture by using painting as a tool for transformation within the individual and collective.
Besides lecturing and teaching transformational painting workshops, her work has been exhibited in galleries, art fairs, museums and festivals worldwide.
Passionate about artistic social experiments, her endeavors are focused towards building, facilitating and participating in platforms designed to experiment and explore creative solutionary activism within community.

CoSM WORKSHOP SETTING:
Class sessions will take place in the beautiful, newly renovated MAGI Art Lab.
The Grey House, CoSM's Visionary Victorian guest house, provides accommodations for all participants. Residing onsite together is a part of this immersively creative week, providing maximum benefit & enrichment.
Accommodations in Grey House are offered in a variety of economies, in addition to the workshop fee. A $250 commuters fee applies to participants staying offsite.
WORKSHOP AMENITIES
Available for the duration of the 7 day workshop:
Three healthy meals daily provided by CoSM chefs.
Coffee, tea and snacks available between meals throughout the week.
Access to Grey House common spaces — The Library, The Parlor, The Dining Hall & Gallery Spaces on all three floors.

The Wisdom Trail offers a contemplative walk through the CoSM woods, including a labyrinth, outdoor sculptural installations by visionary artists

Students are welcome to experience Entheon and Grey House Galleries, including both CoSM Shop & Entheon Shop.

Since January 2003, CoSM has held an unbroken chain of Full Moon ceremonies that honor the importance of cosmic alignment, spirituality and creativity. We meet on this monthly high tide of the spirit because the Full Moon is a symbol of the Soul, a luminous circle reflecting a greater light, just as each of us are sacred mirrors of God’s shining presence. CoSM and Entheon are open weekly on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 12pm - 6pm when CoSM Grounds close. Tuition includes day passes during open hours to CoSM facilities and grounds for the duration of the workshop.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
There are ten guest rooms available in Grey House, CoSM’s Visionary Victorian guest facility.
Onsite accommodations for the six-night stay are a part of the course experience and range from $729.00 for a dorm bed to $1,495.00 for a private King room with a private bathroom, with a few options in between. Pricing reflects the 10% discount for workshop accommodations.
