It's the most wasteful time of the year - but it doesn't have to be! Skip the mall and swap till you drop instead!
Toronto's largest Holiday Gift Swap is BACK for its sixth year! Why buy gifts when you can swap for that special someone instead? Bring items you no longer need, swap them for items to give as gifts this holiday season and get them wrapped at our zero waste wrapping station.

HOW DOES SWAPPING WORK?
FREE Event - just bring new or gently used items and exchange them for gifts for friends and family. Please ONLY bring items you deem worthy of being a gift.
RULES:
1) All items are deemed to have equal value. You will be given a ticket for each item you bring, which can then be used to exchange for an item in the swap.
2) Maximum number of 10 tickets will be given per person, maximum of 10 giftable items + 2 clothing items can be donated to the swap.
3) This is a zero-waste event, meaning we ask you to reduce plastic and waste by bring reusable bags for carrying your gifts and avoid items with excessive packaging.
PRE-SWAP DROP-OFF:
Items can be dropped off prior to the event at our St Clair West & Parkdale locations from December 7-14 during opening hours (after that, you can bring items day of) >> http://bit.ly/TTLLocationsHours
WHAT TO BRING?
– Gift-able and gently used items for swapping (more info below)
– T-shirts, clothing or other materials for the zero-waste gift wrapping station (if you have anything lying around). Get some ideas here >> http://bit.ly/ZeroWasteWrapping
– Empty glass bottles for making your own cup (i.e. beer bottles)
WANT TO VOLUNTEER?
Email sophi@torontotoollibrary.com with your interest. Volunteers get 5 free tickets to use for the swap plus pizza lunch. Shifts are between 2-3 hours.
EXAMPLES OF SWAP-ABLE ITEMS:
We will only accept items that are new, gently used or in good condition. We reserve the right to reject items. Here's some examples of items to swap:
– children’s toys, clothing and accessories (in clean and good condition)
– undamaged books, CDs, DVDs
– electronics (new or gently used)
– jewelry
– musical instruments
– kitchenware
– housewares
– clothing (new or gently used) -- only 2 clothing items per person
– handmade items
– services (such as a gift certificate to a service you or someone else offers)
- artwork (framed/unframed) and sculptures
FREE MAKER WORKSHOPS
In addition to the swap, we will also have three Maker Stations set up where you can make upcycled gifts! We will have a bottle-cutting station, a tea-light holder station and a workshop with our special guest from Craftic (more details soon!).
