Description
To celebrate her astounding 7 GRAMMY nominations this year including Best New Artist, Record of the Year and R&B Album of 2023, The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome singer, songwriter and producer Victoria Monét to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater for an evening including a conversation. Moderated by Jimmy Jam, Monét will discuss her GRAMMY-award nominated debut album JAGUAR II, her creative process, and more with 5x GRAMMY-award winning producer D'Mile.
Multi-hyphenate superstar and 10x Grammy-award nominated Victoria Monét has been stealthily— and steadily— trailblazing her own gilded path in music for over a decade. Monét has been giving fans glimpses into what was coming all throughout 2023 leading up to her album debut, JAGUAR II. She delivered a handful of singles from the album including “Smoke” ft. Grammy winner Lucky Daye, “Party Girls” ft. Buju Banton, and viral hit single “On My Mama” - which amassed 8 million streams in the first 3 weeks of its release and the iconic video garnering over 6 million views in its first month. Monét’s striking choreography courtesy of Sean Bankhead has been viewed over 30 million times across Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok with fans reposting clips and posting themselves doing the choreo. Upon its initial release, JAGUAR II received heavy praise from music industry titans like Cardi B, SZA, Teyana Taylor, Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, Ciara, Zendaya, Gabrielle Union, Janet Jackson, Bruno Mars and more, as well as fans and media. Rolling Stone dubbed it “the Crown Jewel of this Summer’s R&B Resurgence” and “a shining demonstration of the aptitude that made Monét a sought after collaborator” among other kind words from the likes of Teen VOGUE, ELLE, SELF, Harper’s BAZAAR, Pitchfork, The Guardian, Billboard, and many more. The success of JAGUAR II was the icing on the cake to her sold out debut tour, The JAGUAR II Tour where she graced the stage in 26 cities across the US and UK at notable venues like Terminal 5 in NYC, Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, and performed back-to-back shows at The Fonda in L.A. Monét is no stranger to making successful hits whether for herself or for others. She independently released her critically acclaimed solo project JAGUAR in 2020 where the project landed the #1 spot on iTunes R&B album charts in 66 countries on release day, #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, #20 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart, and garnered praise from NPR, Pitchfork, Billboard, MTV, The FADER, Hypebeast, and more. Her repertoire had expanded into hit songwriter and producer when she collaborated on several chart-topping projects alongside acclaimed artists such as Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, Chloe x Halle, BLACKPINK, Selena Gomez, and more. With the ever-growing title of singer-songwriter-producer-performer, the Sacramento native has effectively adorned herself with the ability to defy all labels. She has cemented her role as one of the most exciting acts in R&B in recent years and it’s safe to say she has catapulted her solo-career into stardom.
