The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to present an intimate conversation moderated by CBS News' Anthony Mason with Brittney Spencer followed by a performance at The Greene Space in NYC. The conversation will include a discussion about the making of her latest project, My Stupid Life, her creative process, career, and more.
Brittney Spencer is one of the many artists to be featured in the GRAMMY Museum’s New York City program series, which includes bringing a slate of the GRAMMY Museum’s renowned GRAMMY In The Schools Education Programs and Public Programs to the East Coast. “A New York Evening With…” is generously supported by the Dawn and Brian Hoesterey Family Foundation.
ABOUT BRITTNEY SPENCER
As a Baltimore native, Brittney Spencer is known for her free spirit and standout ability to mold life, truth, and wild imagination into songs. Spencer — who has already been crowned “Nashville’s new star” by CBS Mornings — has already been lauded by Washington Post, Rolling Stone, CBS Saturday, NPR Tiny Desk, TODAY Show, Good Morning America, The Daily Show, Austin City Limits, NPR All Things Considered, Wall Street Journal, Variety, Billboard, Consequence, TIDAL and more. Deemed a “one to watch” by PEOPLE Magazine, Spencer was featured as part of Victoria’s Secret Global “UNDEFINABLE” campaign and has shared stages with Jason Isbell, The Highwomen, Willie Nelson, Reba, Bobby Weir, and Maren Morris to name a few. She’s also performed the National Anthem at The 148th Kentucky Derby, the Preakness in 2022 alongside Megan Thee Stallion and Lauryn Hill, and the 2023 NFL Draft.
On January 19, she released her debut album 'My Stupid Life' via Elektra. Produced by Daniel Tashian with select songs produced by Marcus “MarcLo” Lomax and Romil Hemnan, the album features award-winning collaborators including Grace Potter, Maren Morris, Abbey Cone & Sarah Buxton, plus guitar contributions by Jason Isbell. Recently, she performed at the 2024 CMT Music Awards alongside Parker McCollum and just made her Billboard Hot 100 debut at #27 for her collaboration with Beyoncé for "Blackbiiird.” She’ll continue touring globally this year and recently performed at Stagecoach and Railbird.
ABOUT ANTHONY MASON
Anthony Mason is a senior culture and senior national correspondent for CBS News. He has been a frequent contributor to "CBS Sunday Morning," and his work appears across a variety of CBS News programs and platforms.
Mason is one of the most experienced and versatile correspondents in television news. From 2019 to 2021, he was a co-host of "CBS This Morning" (now "CBS Mornings") and prior to that, he was a co-host of "CBS This Morning: Saturday" (now "CBS Saturday Morning") for seven years. He has interviewed Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon. He has also profiled Federal Reserve Chairmen Alan Greenspan and Paul Volcker. Mason is perhaps best known for his interviews with many of the most prominent musicians of our time, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Adele, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Cher, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. During his tenure at CBS News, Mason has reported on major national and international news events and reported on major events from more than 40 countries, including the rise of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan, the Iran-Iraq war, and the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. Mason led CBS News' coverage of the 75th anniversary of D-Day including President Trump's live address from the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial at Omaha Beach in France surrounding the commemoration of the D-Day program.
