TEFF FIELDS ETHIOPIAN CUISINE MENU
Bayenetu
Injera is a sour and spongy round bread, made of teff flour, that’s naturally vegan and gluten-free. Sauces and dishes are commonly poured on top of the injera, which is then used as a vehicle to get the deliciousness from table to mouth.
Doro Wot (stewed chicken and eggs in a berbere-stained sauce)
Key Wot (an Ethiopian beef stew)
Misir Wot is a hearty stew made with red lentils, berbere (a chile and spice blend used in many such dishes), and a clarified butter known as niter kibbeh, simmered together until the main ingredient is all but indistinguishable.
Shiro is a delicious chickpea powder-based dish (sometimes also including lentils and broad beans), slow-cooked with Ethiopia’s popular — and spicy — red berbere sauce.
Atkilt Wot is a delicious vegetable combo of cabbage, carrots, and potatoes simmered in a light sauce.
Azifa is a green lentil salad that’s perfect on its own or mixed with injera.
Gomen is made of collard greens and spices cooked to tasty perfection.
Inguday Tibs are mushrooms sautéed with onions. In Ethiopian cooking, tibs dishes usually consist of meat, but make it with mushroom and vegan
Yekik Alicha (yellow split peas cooked with turmeric, garlic, onion, and ginger)
Burgundy-hued beets cooked with potato, onion, and parsley.
THE EVENT
Afrikin is a celebration of history, culture, people – us. Through music, talks, exhibitions, and food, we highlight the ingenuity, economic, and social opportunities of Africa and the African diaspora.
We host a discussion on race relations, the condition and future of the African diaspora---- the articulation of multi-levels of blackness in the globalization of African diaspora cultural ethnicity, and new meanings for the African diaspora cultures.
Proceeds from Afrikin will benefit Hurricane Matthew relief efforts to Haiti and Give Me Dignity, an organization that raises awareness about Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA).
