Description
The UK’s first Unnatural History Museum
Audible is excited to announce the launch of a unique interactive exhibition, which brings to life eight, brand new short stories from award-winning authors and Sunday Times best-sellers.
Audible Live: Hag is a brand new exhibition featuring a mix of art installations, sound-rich listening experiences and interactive displays all designed to showcase Hag – an Audible Original short story collection which reframes obscure British folk tales as modern-day feminist fables.
Showcasing historical manuscripts, photographs and ancient objects in a strikingly contemporary setting, Audible Live: Hag explores otherness, identity, faith, religion, gender and trauma. Hosted at The Vinyl Factory, Soho, each meticulously designed space provides visitors with an immersive, Instagram-ready experience which brings these eight short stories to life in a live environment.
Liv Little (gal-dem founder and Editor), Daisy Johnson (Sunday Times best-seller, youngest ever nominee of the Man Booker Prize), Eimear McBride (Bailey’s Women’s Prize For Fiction-winner, Goldsmiths Prize-winner), Kirsty Logan (Lamda Literary Award-winner), Naomi Booth (Sunday Times Short Story Award-nominee), Emma Glass (International Dylan Thomas Prize-nominee), Natasha Carthew (Carnegie Award-nominee) and Mahsuda Snaith (Bristol Short Story Prize-winner) are the authors who have reimagined and reinvented unknown British myths as original short stories only available in audio. Curated by Professor Carolyne Larrington, a specialist in Old Norse legends and British fairy tales at St John’s College, Oxford, each story is inspired by a folk tale sourced from illuminated manuscripts from around the UK and Ireland. Just as the Brothers Grimm codified Germany’s rural folk lore, Hag catalogues the early myths and legends that have shaped the UK’s storytelling heritage, modernizing these forgotten fables with new queer, feminist, working-class and diverse perspectives.
This August, immerse yourself in the past, present & future of folklore in the heart of London at Audible Live: Hag.
