BATH RFC LADIES RETURN TO THE REC
Bath RFC Ladies will return to The Recreation Ground for a standalone match against Reading Abbey RFC Women on Saturday 2 March. Gates open at 1:00pm so you can soak up the atmosphere, visit the Outfield to engage with Bath Rugby's community team and get some refreshments before kick-off at 2:00pm.
The Rec hosted Bath RFC Ladies as part of a double header last September when they faced Newbury Women RFC following Bath Rugby v Jersey Reds in the Premiership Cup.
On this occasion the focus will firmly be on Head Coach Maria Crowfoot’s side as they go up against Reading Abbey RFC Women.
For both Crowfoot, who is also Bath Rugby’s Women’s Performance Lead, and Bath RFC Ladies 1st XV captain Clea Fawcett, this is another exciting opportunity to promote the female game and raise the profile of the players as important role models in the city and wider sport.
“As we’re coming into the tail end of the season, I know the squad are absolutely buzzing to have another run out at The Rec against Abbey,” said Fawcett.
“We started our season at The Rec, and it feels fitting to show how much we have developed as a squad and put on a big performance for our last home game. All our games at The Rec are special and I think we have risen to the occasion every single time, as shown by our 100%-win record. But this time feels even more special knowing that it is going to be our first standalone fixture, which is just a testament to how much women’s rugby has grown and the support we’ve had from the fans and Bath Rugby,” Fawcett added.
