"What can a poor boy do, except to sing for a rock n' roll band?"
Amazing. Hard to believe, but The Rolling Stones classic 'Beggars Banquet' turns fifty in December. The Bushpilots, in the guise of their alter egos The YA-YA's, will be performing the album in its entirety at this year's edition of the Annual Xmas Bash for the Ottawa Food Bank, along with the usual assortment of Rolling Stones hits, gems, rarities and weird stuff. The Ya-Ya's will be augmented by vocalists extraordinaire Lee Ann McLellan and Sue Turpin.
The way-too-much-fun hard core country band Slo' Tom and the Handsome Devils kick the party off, and we are thrilled to welcome back as our MC's for the evening, Sandy Sharkey and Wendy Daniels.
As usual we will have our epic raffle with amazing prizes from our generous corporate sponsors, details to come!
'Beggars Banquet' is the album considered by many as the moment when the Rolling Stones truly arrived, delivering a cohesive album experience. It was the beginning of an unprecedented four album run produced by Jimmy Miller, and rivaled only by The Beatles; 1969's 'Let it Bleed', 'Sticky Fingers' in 1971 and culminating with 'Exile on Main St' in 1972.
Thanks once again to the Rainbow Bistro for allowing us to host this event.
The Ottawa Food Bank always needs our support, particularly in the holiday season when their services are at their peak demand. Give generously.
