Description:
The Blues Crew and the Whitman College Outdoor Program are excited to partner together for a special work party at Lick Creek. Together, members from Blues Crew and the Outdoor Program will work to brush (i.e. clear vegetation) the trail beginning at ZigZag Trailhead and ending at Corporation Trailhead.
The work area will be reached from McDougall Road, off Highway 204, approximately 1.5 hours away. The crew will work downward toward Corporation Trailhead and head home via the Umatilla River Road. We will shuttle vehicles from ZigZag Trailhead to Corporation Trailhead. The trail is approximately 3.5 miles long, with much of the work occurring in a densely wooded area with shade.
Work to accomplish:
Major brush work
Tread repair
Removal of tree fall and logs
Note:
Pets are not to accompany volunteers on a Blues Crew work party due to work safety concerns.

Schedule:
7:30 am – Meet at USFS parking lot on Rose Street in Walla Walla
7:45 am – Depart for Lick Creek Trail via ZigZag Trailhead
9:00 am – Arrive Trailhead. Orientation and safety briefing
Noon – Bring your own lunch
3 pm – Work complete. Discussion and beverages at trailhead. Return to Walla Walla.
What to wear: You cannot participate if you do not dress appropriately
Boots – no sneakers or sandals
Long pants
Long-sleeved shirt
Gloves
Eye protection (glasses, sun glasses)
Ticks can be present: DEET for self, permethrin for clothes
What to bring:
Lunch & snacks
Water (we recommend at least 64 oz)
"Leave No Trace": Please come prepared to pack out your toilet paper in a sealed plastic bag.
