BPI & Official Charts Present: Let's Talk About Music #2- Pride Edition 🏳️🌈 - with Amy Lamé
BPI and Official Charts Company are delighted to partner once again to host Let’s Talk About Music – the online event where music personalities discuss their passion for music and the role it plays in their lives.
The special guest for this second edition of the event will be Amy Lamé, London’s Night Czar, and a longstanding champion of LGBT+ rights and engagement, not least as co-founder of the Olivier Award-winning arts company and club night Duckie.
The event will take place on 30th June at 5pm to help mark what would have been Pride 2020, which was cancelled in the wake of the Covid-19 lockdown. It is free for all to attend, with sign up here.
Amy is, of course, also well known as a presenter on BBC Radio 6 Music, and Let’s Talk About Music will draw on her passion for music and on her extensive music knowledge. Interviewed by Rob Copsey, Editor of consumer-facing website OfficialCharts.com, Amy will be invited to discuss her journey of music discovery from her early years to the present; to share her thoughts on LGBT+ culture and the role music plays in this. She will also be asked about the artists who, in pushing the cultural and social boundaries, have inspired the LGBT+ community to find its voice and give shape to its identity. The hour-long session will end with a Q&A, where the digital floor will be thrown open to the audience for questions.
The BPI has already adapted to host online seminars exploring the business side of the music industry. However, this new event in partnership with the Official Charts Company has been born out of a desire to lift our community’s spirits in these difficult times by talking about the one love that unites us all: music itself.
The inaugural Let’s Talk About Music on 6th May featured acclaimed music critic Pete Paphides, who gave a reading from and discussed his new memoir Broken Greek, and spoke of his love for all things music.
