Please note: RSVPs are encouraged but not required. Entry is first come first served, but RSVPs help you stay up-to-date on event information.
BRIC invites you to celebrate the official public reopening of BRIC House, as well as a joint reception for our fall contemporary art exhibitions. The reception will be held in the main gallery, while the other spaces in BRIC House will be activated for our community to gather, mingle, and explore. Come meet the artists, explore BRIC House, and reconnect with old friends! Refreshments will be served.
Beginning Sept. 21, Rodrigo Valenzuela: New Works for a Post Worker’s World will be on view in the BRIC House Contemporary Art Gallery, and Sophia-Yemisi Adeyemo: Earth & Iron: Archival Visions of Land and Struggle will be on view in our Project Room.
This event will also celebrate the reopening of BRIC House, BRIC's 40,000 sq foot home that hosts exhibitions, a performance space, a flexible artist studio, a state-of-the-art public access television center, a café, and classroom space. Since closing to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, BRIC House has only opened its doors for select programming and events, and the media center has been available by appointment only. Following the official reopening, BRIC House will once again be available as a space for the BRIC community to gather, hold meetings, and hang out with one another on a daily basis.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITIONS
Rodrigo Valenzuela: New Works for a Post Worker’s World
On view at the Gallery at BRIC House Sept. 22, 2022 - Dec. 23, 2022

Rodrigo Valenzuela works across photography, sculpture, installation, and video to construct scenes that function simultaneously as documents and fictions, and that reflect his ongoing interests in examining industrial and post-industrial concepts of work and the contemporary realities of labor. In this exhibition, Valenzuela will present two series of photographs, Afterwork and Weapons, which conjure a post-worker’s world and act as a critique of postcapitalism, social decline, and systems of oppression and authority. Valenzuela will construct an architectural setting for his photographs, paired with a new video and series of sculptures. LEARN MORE HERE
