Gold Fronts: Celebrating the Influence and Agency of Black Womxn in Visual Storytelling
Gold Fronts will take viewers on a historical journey of self-representation and adornment, connecting the swag and status of grillz to the agency and power of imagery controlled by Black womxn in visual storytelling.
Through the work of two rising visual artists, Sophia Johnson and Jasmine Cee, and an intimate conversation with curator and educator Bre’Lynn Lombard, audiences will explore how the artists’ choice of subjects and artistic decisions exemplify the agency Black Womxn use to participate and shape our culture - past, present and future.
This program will inspire viewers to embrace their “gold fronts” and provide them with tools to enhance their personal creative practices.
Get Tickets to the Watch Party broadcast on BRIC’s YouTube channel. At 3PM ET on Saturday February 26.
Gold Fronts co-presented by Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership as part of Black Artstory Month 2022.
