Description
The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre is one of the largest cancer CTUs in the UK.
https://www.ctc.ucl.ac.uk/
In 2022 a formal collaboration was established with The Rose Thompson Foundation, whose mission involves tackling cancer health inequalities that hit Black and Minority Ethnic groups the hardest, especially with conditions like breast and prostate cancer, and multiple myeloma.
https://www.rosetf.org.uk/about-us
They have conducted interviews, surveys and focus groups to find out more about the barriers to taking part in clinical trials; producing a report of the findings. Our next step is to raise awareness within the community, particularly to Black and Minority Ethnic groups community leaders, focusing on key points in the report with the intention of information being disseminated to; their communities.
Join us for interactive discussions and workshops on how clinical trials can better serve the health needs of the Black community.
This will be an educational day including topics on the importance of clinical trials in the black community, why participation matters, a break down on clinical trials including safety and combatting injustice as well ask talks from black patients involved in clinical trials and black healthcare professionals involved in recruiting to clinical trials.
Full agenda to follow shortly. Lunch and refreshments provided.
