Description
This workshop is beginner friendly!
Want to learn how hackers exploit unlocked computers in seconds, and also build your own cat-shaped hacking tool? Join us at Null Space and learn all about USB attacks through our new hardware platform, the WiFi Nugget.
Please bring a laptop, and install Mu editor (codewith.mu). Bring a USB type C cable which supports data. To ensure you have a good data cable, it may be a good idea to bring a few USB type C cables as some are power-only.

About:
In this beginner-friendly workshop you will: - Build your own USB Hacking Platform w/ the WiFi Nugget - Learn how to assemble / solder electronics - Learn CircuitPython programming basics - Learn about common USB attack methods - Write your own keystroke injection payloads w/ DuckyScript
--------------------------------------------
Time: This 3 hour workshop consists of 2 sessions:
Soldering Skills (1 Hour):
We'll walk you through assembling your own cat-shaped "WiFi Nugget" circuit board from start to finish, and you'll walk away with a powerful hardware platform that supports USB attacks, wifi reconnaissance, and more! You'll learn soldering techniques on a friendly through-hole design, and also get a basic understanding of hardware design. The WiFi Nugget Kit consists of a mini screen, reactive RGB LED, 4 DPad-Style buttons, a 3D printed case, and ESP32-S2 WiFi microcontroller. (Advanced learners can also practice surface-mount soldering).
USB Attack Workshop (2 Hours):
In our USB Attack Workshop, you'll learn how hackers compromise computers over USB with techniques like keystroke injection - and even get to try it yourself! We'll show how to write your own "Duckyscript" payloads, and how to load the "RubberNugget" attack software on your S2 WiFi Nugget. In addition to writing your own attacks, we'll walk you through uploading the beginner-friendly CircuitPython programming language on your Nugget, and even demonstrate an experimental web interface you can use to remotely run your payloads.
In the last 30 minutes, we'll also be hosting a mini hackathon! Small teams will compete to write attack payloads, and the most destructive / entertaining payloads will win a prize :)
You can check out a RubberNugget Payload Demo Here!

Workshop Notes / FAQs:
All materials will be provided at the workshop! This includes soldering tools, and also an ESP32-S2 WiFi Nugget Kit with a 3D printed enclosure. You can find the parts list here.
What is the WiFi Nugget? The WiFi Nugget is a cat-shaped hardware platform designed to make hacking & programming accessible to beginners. You can assemble the WiFi Nugget yourself, and use the onboard buttons, screen, RGB LED, and WiFi microcontroller to run interactive hacking software! This workshop features the S2 WiFi Nugget model, which offers USB attack capabilities. Learn more at http://wifinugget.com!
What is CircuitPython? CircuitPython is a Python based programming language, designed to run on cheap microcontrollers. This beginner-friendly language makes it simple to learn coding, control hardware sensors, and more!
What is the RubberNugget? The RubberNugget is a USB attack software we wrote that makes it simple to deploy DuckyScript payloads from your WiFi Nugget, in just 3 clicks! To upload new payloads to your Nugget, simply plug it into your computer, and drag over files - or use our experimental web interface to upload / run attacks over WiFi!
