Here we are, nearing the end of the growing season and it's harvest time for so many things in your garden, including your cannabis! After all your hard work and careful tending, it's now time to pull in the fruits of your labour. Whether you are a beginner gardener growing cannabis at home for the first time, or an experienced home grower looking to hone your skills and knowledge, this workshop gives you all the knowledge you need, and some hands-on practice, to be able to make the most of your cannabis yield this fall. The focus will be on harvesting, curing, and preserving cannabis from your garden. When you're done, you'll be able to confidently make the most of your harvest and tailor your preservation methods to your own medicinal and recreational use preferences.

Basic botany and knowledge of cannabis’ chemical constituents
How to know when your cannabis is ready to harvest
How to properly harvest various parts of your plants
The merits of different methods of preserving, including drying, tinctures, salves, cooking ingredients, and more.
Practice harvesting and trimming a fresh cannabis plan in class so you can feel confident doing it on your own at home!

About Your Instructor: Matt Soltys
Matt Soltys was a federally licensed medical cannabis grower for five years, where he produced high quality cannabis for patients of compassion clubs. Beyond his interest in cannabis, Matt got his permaculture design certificate in 2005, has led dozens of edible and medicinal wild plant walks since 2007, spent several years as a heirloom garlic farmer, and is currently strengthening his passion for plants and herbalism studying botany and biology at the University of Guelph. Matt is an active father to two children and tends to their forest garden homestead in the Ward.
