Celebrate Earth Day on the Future Front patio with an upcycling party by Good Girls ATX. On April 22, 2022, Good Girls ATX is teaming up with Austin’s upcycling experts to throw an Earth Day Party that will nurture your creativity, your wardrobe, your community—and your home planet. Hosted on the Future Front patio from 6:30 to 9 PM, drop by anytime to shop sustainably-made creations at the All Upcycled Pop-up Shop and help raise funds for others doing good in our community. With an advance ticket, you can also create one-of-a-kind pieces at Good Girls’ BYOGarment Upcycling Bar. 100% open-air and outdoors. Human-friendly. WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE PARTY ✰ AN ALL-UPCYCLED POP-UP SHOP Shop from local creatives who are creating gender-neutral, one-of-a-kind pieces from vintage and re-homed items. Vendors include: Soul Studio Feral Kinds Flavors Creative So Bad Sew Good ✰ IT’S BYOB (& SNACKS!) Feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks. Canned and locally produced beverages are usually the most Earth-friendly option! (Blue Norther will provide a limited number of their hard seltzers. We like them because their drinks are locally produced and canned in infinitely recyclable aluminum.) ✰ THE BYOGARMENT UPCYCLING BAR (TICKETS REQUIRED) Bring something from home that is stained, discolored or just not “you” and work with local experts to transform your piece into something you will love wearing again. Choose from: Plant Dyeing and Eco-Printing with Soul Studio Live Screen Printing with Goose Prints MFG Don’t have anything to bring? We’ll have some sustainably-sourced items available by donation! (Please don’t buy anything for this event.) HOW TO ATTEND Attending the pop-up shop and party is 100% free or by donation. To dye or screen-print a garment at the upcycling bar, you must reserve a ticket for $25. Every pledge made with your ticket will directly benefit the following programs: 60% given to Soul Studio and Goose Prints MFG to cover material costs from the BYOGarment Upcycling Bar 15% to GOOD girls ATX to cover trademarking fees so we can keep throwing amazing clothing swaps 10% to Austin Creative Reuse to continue fostering conservation and reuse through creativity, education, and community building 10% to Future Front Texas to support their micro-grants and mental health funds for women and LGBTQ+ creatives, founders and leaders 5% to tip our graphic designers PREPARE YOUR VISIT TO THE FUTURE FRONT HQ We’re located at 916 Springdale Road Trailer No. 3 within the Canopy Austin Complex. Our trailer is catty-corner to Building 4, which is located within the back parking lot behind Sa-Ten. WHERE TO PARK: Canopy has a large parking lot and is accessible by bus line. Carpool, if you can! WHAT TO DO: Our headquarters is located within Canopy Austin, which is a larger creative complex featuring creative businesses, art studios and more. Explore the property while stopping by our trailer. WHAT TO EAT/DRINK: We'll have a small pop-up bar featuring some of our partners, and there are multiple snack/brunch spots within walking distance, including OMG Squee and Sa-Ten. OUR COVID-19 GUIDELINES: We offer some lovely virtual options for those uncomfortable gathering in-person. IRL event capacity is limited at all of our spaces to reduce crowding of any kind. All of our IRL events will be held in outdoor and open-air spaces. All guests at FFTX spaces are required to practice mutual respect and social distancing. All guests are expected to follow APH’s Stage 5 Guidelines, including: Fully vaccinated individuals should wear a mask when indoors and unable to socially distance. Partially or unvaccinated individuals should avoid inessential activities at this time and are not encouraged to attend.
