Description
Emily Gimble started her career as a child singing and playing piano with her Grandfather and Country Music Hall of Fame member Johnny Gimble. He is widely considered one of the finest fiddlers and mandolin players for Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys and was a staple later on in the Nashville Recording Scene appearing on records by Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Strait and many many more. Emily, along with Johnny and her father Dick Gimble toured across America as a Western Swing outfit called “The Gimbles” in her teenage years as she branched out into Jazz, Blues, Soul, and many other kinds of music.
Emily then worked and toured with several different artists including Amy Helm, Hayes Carll, Warren Hood and others before joining Grammy Award Winners Asleep at the Wheel. During this time she also performed on Austin City Limits twice and recorded a duet with Merle Haggard and even backed up Robert Plant at the Austin Music Awards. She spent two years in Asleep at The Wheel before deciding to go solo. Her debut Solo album Certain Kinda produced by Andrew Trube of Greyhounds was released in 2016.
Emily has represented Texas as a musical ambassador with one of her projects Marshall Ford Swing Band in China at the 2010 World’s Fair Expo in Shanghai and along the way Emily has been awarded 4 Austin Music Awards for "Best Keyboards" as she continues to work under her own name and with many other projects in Texas and beyond. Emily was appointed by the State of Texas as State Musician of the Year 2020.
Michael Archer has been playing Bass since he was 10 years old. Growing up on a farm outside Warkworth, Ontario - he gained his first playing experiences in his family band comprised of Michael and two of his three brothers (Jesse and Liam). Both of his parents (Cecil and Jane) were avid music fans and took family trips to countless live concert and music festival experiences. These shaped his interests toward Blues, Rock and Roots music. During his teenage years he continued playing with his brothers and took an interest in jazz and the upright bass at Campbellford District High and also took lessons from Ken Tizzard which led him to a bachelor's degree in Jazz performance from Humber College. Shortly after graduating from Humber College in Toronto, Michael spent 8 years with Juno Nominees The 24th Street Wailers and remained with the group until mid 2017. Shortly after, he spent a year with the Nick Moss Band from Chicago.
Michael now lives outside Austin, TX with his wife Emily where he has become an in-demand bassist on the Austin music scene. Most recently, he has joined up with former David Bowie/Iggy Pop collaborator Hunt Sales in the Hunt Sales Memorial and is now playing with Grammy Nominated Pianist, Marcia Ball.
