Back for their second incendiary season, Cor Flammae presents FALLEN ANGELS: sacred + profane choral works by historical and modern queer composers. In this first of two concerts, experience the soaring acoustic of St. Andrew's Wesley Church's gorgeous, queer-friendly sanctuary of stone and stained glass. This concert will be heaven on earth! The rich religious traditions of choral music mean a participant must confront sacred spaces which have historically defined the queer body as profane, obscene and unholy. Cor Flammae explores this tension by producing two concerts in seemingly opposing spaces, inviting audiences to experience choral music in a space for which it was intended (a church), or in a definitively queer space (a sex club), to see how the works resonate differently. See below for package options! The choir is thrilled to be led this year by our 2015 Guest Conductor, Stephen Smith.St Andrew's-Wesley is committed to the work of compassion and justice for marginalized communities, locally and abroad, and has generously donated rehearsal space for this concert. There is wheelchair access via the door at 1022 Nelson Street.FALLEN ANGELS is presented in partnership with the Queer Arts Festival.
