Welcome to the second season of the Forgotten Female Composers Series directed by Lysistrata Chamber Collective!
This series exclusively features music by female and non-binary composers from past to present; we share music that shouldn't go unheard, discover new stories together, and reflect on what can be learnt from untold histories.

SONGS OF THE FOREST. Exploring the sounds of nature
“Nature is our chapel ” - Björk (*1965)
As spring turns to summer, many of us are spending more time in nature: swimming in lakes, picnicking, shooing away wasps, and finding shade beneath the trees. Forest sounds have inspired various composers throughout history, whether they choose to depict imaginary scenes, like Lili Boulanger does with the sounds of nature’s awakening in D’Un Matin de Printemps, or to draw directly on the forest soundscapes for inspiration, such as the bird calls in Sofia Gubaidulina’s Forest Sounds. In this concert, we will bring the outdoors inside with these pieces and many more.
Join us as we welcome the return of summer.

Die zweite Saison der Forgotten Female Composers Series mit dem Lysistrata Chamber Collective ist in vollem Gang.
Eine Reihe, die der Musik von Komponistinnen gewidmet ist und eine Plattform für spannende Künstlerinnen der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart bietet. Ein Ort für Neugierige, um verschollene Musik wiederzuentdecken, vergessene Geschichten neu zu erzählen und über die Zukunft nachzudenken.

Mit der Rückkehr des Sommers zieht es viele von uns in die Arme der Natur: Zu den Badeseen, Blumenwiesen und schattigen Bäumen. Die Geräusche von Wald und Natur klingen im Werk zahlreicher Komponistinnen wieder– wie etwa in Lili Boulanger schillerndem Naturidyll D’Un Matin de Printemps oder in den Vogelrufen in Sofia Gubaidulinas Forest Sounds. Mit diesen und vielen weiteren Stücken holen wir die Natur von draußen nach drinnen und stimmen uns gemeinsam auf den Sommer ein.
