Also, at this luncheon, ITSCA will present our International Smart Cities Scholarship awardees:
Wendy Tao was a global leader in sustainable transportation and smart cities and a tireless advocate for diversity in transportation. Endlessly resourceful, optimistic, and drawn to challenges, she was the consummate problem solver. Wendy tragically passed away in 2022. In honor of her legacy, ITS California created an International Smart Cities Scholarship, which is initially being funded through donations from Wendy’s friends and colleagues. In this luncheon we honor the inaugural winners, two UC Berkeley PhD students, Cheng-Kay Hsu and Meiqing Li.
Cheng-Kai will respond to a forthcoming initiative of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency to set up a five-year trial for zero-emission micro-mobility fleets in courier network services. Meiqing Li will continue to work on applying state-of-the-art technologies to broaden the knowledge of human mobility systems that can inform sustainable transportation policy and practice across the globe.
