Book Club Live at the GAA Museum for Bealtaine
The GAA Museum Book Club is delighted to announce our next live event as part of the Bealtaine Festival.
Our Book Club choice for April / May 2024 is A Place To Play by Humphrey Kelleher. The author will join broadcaster Paul Collins at the museum to chat about his ten-year research for the book and the challenges with taking on such a huge project.
The event will also include a ticket to the GAA Museum where guests can enjoy two floors of exhibits including the Hall of Fame, trophy collections and artefacts tracing the birth and growth of the Association from ancient times to the present day.
Book Club live takes place at 11.15am on Tuesday May 28th. Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance at www.crokepark.ie/gaamuseum. Complimentary tea / coffee on arrival is also included. Places are limited, so please only book if you can attend.
About A Place To Play
A Place to Play takes readers on a spellbinding tour of 101 GAA County Grounds across all 32 counties and tells the stories of the people and communities in each location. Accompanied by wonderful photography, this meticulously researched book is a celebration of GAA playing fields and provides in-depth histories of the grounds including their purchase, growth and character.
Author Humphrey Kelleher travelled to each pitch over a ten-year period to complete his research and the result is a unique publication with beautiful imagery and fascinating facts.
This is the second time we have chosen one of Humphrey’s books for the GAA Museum Book Club having read Family Silver previously. The author played hurling and football at intercounty level for Waterford and also managed the Dublin senior hurling team in 2004 / 2005.
