Jay Eum CoFounder/Managing Director Translink Capital Jay focuses on consumer technology, including mobile, gaming, and consumer devices. He leads TransLink's activities supporting portfolio companies with their customers and partners, primarily in Korea. Jay’s active current investments include AirPlug, Chartboost, Epic, Gamevice, nWay, Peel, Penrose, Singular, SoundHound and SquareTwo. Noteworthy past investments include Carbonite (CARB), Enterprise DB (ACQ: Peak Equity), Livescribe (ACQ: Anoto) and YuMe (YUME). Before co-founding TransLink, Jay was the head of Samsung Ventures America. Jay directly led several successful Samsung Ventures investments including AnalogTech (AATI), Continuous Computing (ACQ: RadiSyS), DivX (DIVX), InPhi (IPHI), Intellon (ITLN), MontaVista (ACQ: Cavium), Pure Digital (ACQ: Cisco), Techwell (TWLL) and Teknovus (ACQ: Broadcom). Prior to joining Samsung, Jay was an investment officer with the Silicon Valley office of Vertex Management, a global VC firm headquartered in Singapore. At Vertex, Jay focused on investments in communications, mobile, and Internet, including Aicent (ACQ: Syniverse), GRIC Communications (GRIC), Mobile 365 (ACQ: Sybase), and PayPal (ACQ: eBay). Before Vertex, Jay was Senior Director of Business Development at Dialpad Communications (ACQ: Yahoo). Jay also worked as an Associate at McKinsey in Palo Alto, New York, Beijing, and Seoul, and at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. Jay received an MBA from Stanford University, as well as an M.S. in Biochemistry and B.S. in Chemistry from Seoul National University. Jay serves as President & Board Director of the Asia America MultiTechnology Association (AAMA) and Board Director of the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM). He is also an Advisor for Korea Innovation Center (KIC) Silicon Valley. Jay enjoys travel, Sci-Fi movies, and spicy food.
Duncan Davidson CoFounder/Managing Partner Bullpen Capital They are the pioneer of Post Seed investing, an early A round setting up a super-sized round. Previously he was at VantagePoint Venture Partners, a mega-fund and one of the leaders in CleanTech. Prior to joining the dark side, he started or was involved with four startups: Covad and InterTrust, both multi-billion dollar IPOs in the ‘90s; SkyPilot, an outdoor WiFi mesh, and Xumii, one of the earliest mobile social networks. At Bullpen he is focusing on future technologies like AI, drones, IOT; as well as startups digitizing analog businesses. He is on the board of Illumeo, Verbling, Filament, Sourceeasy, Lumoid, and DoubleDutch, and an active advisor to Wag Walking, Betable and Twenty20.
Michael Sidgmore Venture Partner Broadhaven Capital Partners, where he invests in early-stage FinTech companies. He is on the Board of Liveoak Technologies and Credijusto and on the Advisory Board at Trizic. Michael is also the Founder of Let's Humanize Finance, a podcast that interviews FinTech innovators who are changing how we interact with money. Prior to Broadhaven, Michael was a pre-product employee and Senior Vice President at iCapital Network, a financial technology company that provides simplified and tech-enabled access to alternative investments at lower costs and lower minimums. Michael helped build the family office and RIA networks and helped grow the platform to over $2.1 billion of assets. Prior to iCapital Network, Michael was the first sales hire and the Director of Institutional Investments at Mosaic, a financing platform for affordable home solar loans that has surpassed $1 billion of loans originated and has received a $200 million equity investment from Warburg Pincus. Michael started his career as an Analyst at Goldman Sachs' Principal Strategic Investments team in London, a direct investing team focused on market structure and FinTech investing. Michael is an Advisory Board Member for Village Capital's US FinTech Program and a Special Advisor to Panorama Point Partners.
Tobin Dommer Partner Sheppard Mullin He works in Corporate Practice Group based in the Palo Alto office and is a member of the digital current and blockchain industry group. Tobin has significant experience working with corporate investors, venture capital funds and software, digital media and hardware companies through all stages of growth. Tobin has over 15 years of experience in Silicon Valley representing startups, venture capital firms and strategic investors in financing transactions. He most recently represented a leading provider of crypto currency wallets and financial tools in its $42.5 million Series B Preferred Financing. Tobin also represents companies of all sizes in M&A transactions, including acquisitions and divestitures by strategic and financial acquirers, as well helping start-up companies in acquisitions by leading technology companies like Google, LinkedIn, and Salesforce.
William Quigley Managing Director Cashel Enterprises, a cryptocurrency focused investment vehicle. He is also CEO of OPSkins.com, the world’s largest marketplace for video game virtual items. He is also Cashel has incubated and invested in more than 40 Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptocurrency related investments. Quigley co-developed the first crypto derivative, used to trade pre-release Ethereum. He co-founded many transformative crypto companies including Tether, a USD derivative adopted by many of the world’s leading crypto exchanges and Gocoin, a pioneering crypto payments processor. He also co-founded WAX, a utility token for trading video game virtual items. Prior to forming Cashel, William co-founded Clearstone Venture Partners, an early-stage focused venture capital firm where he concentrated on internet investments. He also co-founded the world’s first consumer internet venture capital firm and led internet incubation efforts at idealab, the most successful consumer internet incubator of the Web 1.0 era. Prior to Clearstone, William spent seven years in a variety of business planning and new venture roles at The Walt Disney Company. His tenure at Disney included finance and operational roles at Euro Disney, the Disney Store retail chain, and Disney Consumer Products. He oversaw strategic planning and finance activities for the Walt Disney Company’s licensing division, the world’s largest consumer products licensor. William also co-managed Disney’s merchant banking group, where he negotiated and structured acquisitions and equity investments in the company’s strategic licensees. Prior to Disney, William was a Senior Consultant with Arthur Andersen’s Financial Services Group. At Andersen, William assisted banks and S&Ls in their asset securitization and risk segmentation efforts. He also advised Japanese banks on their US market entry strategies. William received his MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was appointed a Kauffman Fellow. He holds a B.S. in Accounting with honors from the University of Southern California.
