The Church Studio presents IN SESSION, a recording session with Johnny Mullenax Big Family Jam—an exclusive and immersive listening experience in the iconic Live Room. Limited to just 50 attendees, this event offers a unique opportunity to become part of the recording and tracking process. Other artists featured include: Jake Lynn, Andrew Bair, Paul Wilkes, Thomas Trapp & Tony Spatz.
As an integral part of the session, each guest will be provided with individual headphones delivering a personalized mix of vocals and multi-track instrumentation. This is more than a concert—it's a rare glimpse into the artistry of analog recording, a journey into raw and authentic soundscapes.
Johnny Mullenax, a 27-year-old Tulsa native, grew up in a musical family. He started playing the guitar at age 5, when his mom Janey, who played in a 50’s rock-and-roll cover band, put him on stage to play the Star-Spangled Banner at a 4th of July show. In his teens, he followed his family to the Walnut Valley Festival and Flat-Picking Championship in Winfield, Kansas. In typical Johnny fashion, he showed up with just a guitar and ended up sleeping in a standup base case.
Johnny has made a name for himself in Tulsa, Northwest Arkansas and beyond as a preeminent purveyor of bluesy, funk-drenched country, bluegrass and rock and roll, playing with bands all over the region. There are big break-level developments on the horizon—a new EP, appearances on the national festival circuit, a new booking contract with Crossover Touring and recently comleted a 14-show tour across France.
