THE ISO AT BUTLER CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Butler University’s Jordan College of the Arts are partnering to showcase the ISO’s world class musicians who also serve as BU faculty, deepening the relationship between the two storied organizations. The series of four concerts will be held throughout the 2024-25 season in the Eidson-Duckwall Recital Hall on the BU campus. Hosted by ISO concertmaster and BU Artist in Residence Kevin Lin, these wide-ranging programs include: Wednesday, September 4, 2024 – Timeless Works for Brass Butler faculty Allen Miller (trumpet) and Anthony Kniffen (Tuba) join members of the ISO brass section Richard Graef (horn), Daniel Lewis (trumpet), and Ryan Miller (trombone) in a rousing program of music for brass quintet, up close and personal with the ISO’s tremendous artists. Wednesday, October 16, 2024 – Folksy Flute and Strings BU professor of flute, Alistair Howlett, joins ISO strings, Melissa Deal and Bryson Karrer (violin), Caleb Cox (viola), and Sam Viguerie (cello) in a program of music inspired by folk songs from Norway and the Americas. Wednesday, January 22, 2025 – Sphinx with Kevin Lin Butler University’s Jordan College of the Arts artist-in-residence and ISO concertmaster Kevin Lin joins musicians from the Sphinx organization. Wednesday, March 5, 2025 – Mozart and Brahms Jordan College of the Arts faculty and ISO member Trina Gross (clarinet), together with members of the ISO string section, performs the Mozart Clarinet quintet. In addition, the ISO strings perform Brahms’ epic Sextet for Strings No. 1 in B-flat Major, op. 18. Advance registrations are available. Advance registrations close at 4pm the day prior to the event. If seats remain, they will be available at the door on a first-come, first-serve basis.
