Description
Singer-songwriter pianist Jeffery Straker grew up taking piano lessons in small-town Saskatchewan. He actually swears he was born under the piano on the family farm, and since those ‘grand’ beginnings he’s gone on to perform over 100 shows per year across Canada, Europe and Latin America. The storytelling nature of his roots-folk songs has the power to transport a listener - out onto a lake in Canada’s North or to the main street of a prairie town. A clever lyricist with an energetic piano style his song writing has drawn critical comparisons to the likes of Harry Chapin, Kris Kristofferson & Billy Joel.
Straker’s 2017 album “Dirt Road Confessional” reached #5 on the iTunes Canada singer-songwriter charts. It saw him debut at Canada’s National Arts Centre and perform live on BBC Radio in the UK. His songs have been licensed for film, TV and theatrical productions and he’s performed his music in sold-out shows with symphony orchestras. Receiving a Western Canadian Music Award in 2019, he also received the Saskatchewan Music Award for Roots/Folk Artist of the Year in 2020. This concert highlights songs from his brand new 2021 full-length album release, “Just Before Sunrise”, to be released May 2021.

Le pianiste auteur-compositeur-interprète Jeffery Straker a grandi en prenant des leçons de piano dans une petite ville de la Saskatchewan. Il jure d'ailleurs qu'il est né sous le piano de la ferme familiale. Depuis ces débuts " grandioses ", il a donné plus de 100 concerts par an au Canada, en Europe et en Amérique latine. La nature narrative de ses chansons roots-folk a le pouvoir de transporter l'auditeur - sur un lac du Nord canadien ou dans la rue principale d'une ville des Prairies. Parolier intelligent et pianiste énergique, ses chansons ont été comparées à celles de Harry Chapin, Kris Kristofferson et Billy Joel.
L'album de 2017 de Straker, "Dirt Road Confessional", a atteint la cinquième place du classement des auteurs-compositeurs-interprètes d'iTunes Canada. Il a fait ses débuts au Centre national des Arts du Canada et s'est produit en direct sur la radio de la BBC au Royaume-Uni. Ses chansons ont fait l'objet de licences pour des productions cinématographiques, télévisuelles et théâtrales et il a interprété sa musique lors de spectacles à guichets fermés avec des orchestres symphoniques. Récipiendaire d'un Western Canadian Music Award en 2019, il a également reçu le Saskatchewan Music Award de l'artiste roots/folk de l'année en 2020.Ce concert met en lumière les chansons de son tout nouvel album complet de 2021, "Just Before Sunrise", qui sortira en mai 2021.
