Jubefest brings our community together to celebrate live performing arts at the Jubilee Auditorium featuring some of Alberta’s world-class musicians and poets. On August 12th, swing into the beat of summer with two time JUNO award winning jazz and swing vocalist Caity Gyorgy. With the opening Poetic Prologue by poet Taylor Stasila, this will be a night out you won't want to miss. So, bring your own lawn chair, purchase some tasty snacks and local beverages and enjoy the best of Alberta on our outdoor stage!
About Caity Gyorgy:Caity Gyorgy (pronounced George) is 2 time JUNO award winning Canadian vocalist who is known for singing bebop and swing music. She has performed at popular clubs and jazz festivals across Canada, Mexico, Japan and the USA and has worked and recorded with incredible musicians including Christine Jensen, Pat LaBarbera, Jocelyn Gould, Ira Coleman, Joe LaBarbera, Allison Au, and Bryn Roberts, to name a few. Shehas released several albums of original and standard music. Her albums "Now Pronouncing: Caity Gyorgy" and "Featuring" received consecutive JUNO Awards for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Her next album "You’re Alike, You Two”, a collection of Jerome Kern songs performed with pianist Mark Limacher, will be released on July 21st, 2023. She is currently signed to La Reserve Records.
About Taylor Stasila:Taylor Stasila is a Calgary-based spoken word poet. A born-and-raised Calgarian with close proximity to the mountains, Taylor has always had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors. In 2021, she graduated from the University of Calgary where she earned her bachelors in English and Political Science. Her writing blends the relationships between the land and our bodies, consumption, energy, and space. Taylor has featured at the Arusha Centre’s Moving Mountains Climate Confluence, the Alcove’s Featured Artist Showcase, Poetry Parlour, and the Indie YYC’s online reading series.
