Description
I
This 3 hour workshop will demonstrate fundamental protocols for using the expressive arts within the context of Jungian analysis. Participants will have an opportunity to experience scribble drawing, a clay scribble and self expression through elemental gesture. In even a brief workshop the usefulness of the arts as a rite d'entree to the unconscious will become apparent as well as an encounter with the dynamics needed for the development of a symbolic attitude.Analysands often report that the art making process enables them to go deeper into the analytic work than just using words alone. Even the dream work can be enriched by engaging with the dream messages through drawing. Even simple, playful drawings can reveal aspects of one's self that might often remain hidden. Recovering lost parts of self can be experienced as transformational.
Sondra Geller is a Jungian Analyst, Board Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in Washington, D.C. She also leads workshops and teaches for the Washington Jung Society and PAJA.
