ON JUNE 3, 2023, the League of Women Voters of Colorado celebrates the winner of the 2023 Leaders of Democracy Award, REPRESENTATIVE JASON CROW of Colorado’s 6th Congressional District, for his heroism on and for defending our democratic processes after January 6th, 2021. However, since THIS IS OUR FIRST IN-PERSON FUNDRAISING EVENT SINCE 2019, we would love your support and presence at History Colorado as we celebrate the League’s mission of empowering voters and defending democracy! ------------------------------------ DETAILS All exhibits will be open as you nibble on hors d’oeuvres and sip libations, then join us in the MDC/Richmond American Homes Foundation Room for a meaningful mosaic of poetry, storytelling, and appreciation. The program will be an hour and a half, and all attendees can look at all the exhibits FOR FREE during the event. The event will take place in History Colorado's MDC/Richmond American Homes Foundation Room, hosted by Anne Trujillo, Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist. The theme is "We're ALL CO (Colorado)," with the program divided into three sections based on the CO in Colorado – COnnection, COllaboration, and COmmunity. 1. Ahja Fox, Poet Laureate of Aurora, will open the event, setting the tone for a beautiful evening. Her words have the ability to start points of connection for an authentic experience. 2. Followed by Daryl Vigil, Water Administrator for the Jicarilla Apache Nation. 3. And 2021 Leader of Democracy honoree Lauren Casteel, President and CEO of The Women's Foundation of Colorado Past Leader of Democracy recipients include Sen. Polly Baca, former Secretary of State Wayne Williams, and the multipartisan Y&Z Coalition, which helped to draft and promote Amendments Y&Z allowing for independent redistricting. League of Women Voters of Colorado's impacts include providing nonpartisan ballot education to hundreds of thousands of voters and advocating for safe, secure elections.
