You're invited to join us for Lewiston's BDAY #3 - On May 25, 2019 Lewiston would have turned 3. We host a special event to remember a little lion that left a big legacy, and to raise money for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation. It will be a night of celebrating, memory making and of course some dancing - cause we can't stop the feeling. With your attendance you can also look forward to: * Complimentary bevvies and small bites * Silent Auction * Live 'Hot Date' Auction with some of Calgary's finest. * Great music, a fun vibe and a fantastic crowd of people Lewiston's BDAY is a birthday party like no other! We look forward to seeing you there and having you join us in getting closer to a cure for SMA! WHO IS LEWISTON? On May 25, 2016 a healthy baby boy was born to Jessica and Ronnie Olstad – local Calgary residents. Lewiston James Olstad brought his family and friends more love and joy than you could ever have imagined. At two months old, the family was devastated when Lewiston was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1 - a genetic disease that affects nerve cells in the body, causing patients to loose their ability to walk, eat and eventually breath. It's the #1 genetic cause of death for children under two. With a life expectancy of less than 2 years, Jess & Ronnie were committed to making every moment with Lewiston count, and felt an entire city rally behind them as they fought hard for Lewiston’s life. His incredible story spread not just through the city but around the world. Sadly Lewiston lost the battle to SMA in late November 2016. Now we honour him by celebrating his life and keeping his legacy strong. WHAT ARE WE ALL ABOUT? The LOVE FOR LEWISTON FOUNDATION is a movement and non profit foundation dedicated to educating others on SMA, to funding research, finding a cure and assisting SMA families with medical needs.
