Since 1995 Matmos have made recordings and performed live using the sounds of amplified crayfish nerve tissue, the pages of bibles turning, a bowed five string banjo, slowed down whistles and kisses, water hitting copper plates, the runout groove of a vinyl record, a $5.00 electric guitar, liposuction surgery, cameras and VCRs, chin implant surgery, contact microphones on human hair, a five gallon bucket of oatmeal, and the vagina, uterus, and reproductive tract of a cow. Matmos released albums under Matador Records for nine years before signing with Thrill Jockey in 2012, and has also been found collaborating with Björk both on studio recordings and live tours.Kevin Blechdom (Kristin Erickson) is the avenging angel of pop music. Armed with a laptop, top notch programming skills, keyboard and a banjo, Ms. Blechdom has brought much needed life into electronic music with her one woman show filled with Song, Dance, Blood and Guts. She began over ten years ago by releasing 2 albums as ‘Adult Rodeo’ on the revered Shimmy Disc label. Later she hooked up with Bevin Kelley and formed Blectum From Blechdom to release music on labels like Tigerbeat6 and Deluxe, the later recording winning 2nd place at the prestigious ars electronica prize in linz. Kristin then kept her team name Kevin Blechdom and relocated herself to Berlin where she produced two albums for the Chicks on Speed label entitled ‘BITCHES WITHOUT BRITCHES’ (2003) and ‘EAT MY HEART OUT’ (2005).Full festival lineup at megapolisfestival.org.
