Description
The 1781 Collective presents... a new experience by the creative team behind LABYRINTH: The Cabinet of Curiosities.
MYSTERIUM
A 1.5 hour journey through darkness and into the light, MYSTERIUM is a concert experience where YOU play a key role in the performance.
----Nothingness. Emptiness. The state from which all existence emerges and returns. The absence of intrinsic meaning and purpose. Enter, the VOID.----
The 1781 Collective presents their brand new concept: MYSTERIUM. Inspired by Aleksandr Scriabin’s epic piece to end all times, the MYSTERIUM is a place where music, dance, colour, time, and space are brought together to celebrate the one true element of life worth living: connection.
///WHAT:
Over an hour and half, you'll explore the entire space of the phenomenal Musikbrauerei, encountering a diverse range of Berlin's best underground classical performers - with each stage of the event paired with scent and colour design. A space where the line between audience and performer is blurred, where spectator becomes the spectacle, where observation becomes participation in the overall creative act.
///HOW:
Ten performers will guide you through the three stages of the VOID, before emerging through liberation. What lies beyond the depths of nothingness? Only those who brave the MYSTERIUM can know.
///WHEN:
Saturday February 22nd @ 17:00, 19:00 & 21:00 (limited capacity per timeslot).
Please note: arrival time is within half an hour of the timeslot opening (e.g. 17:00-17:30). We cannot guarantee entrance after this period, so please be on time!

ABOUT the MYSTERIUM: Aleksandr Scriabin’s Final, Unfinished Work.
Philosopher, musician, poet: Aleksandr Scriabin, Symbolist and Theosophist composer of the late-19th and early-20th century. A synaesthete inspired by the works of Madame Helena Blavatsky, a professed follower of Mysticism and Russian Cosmism, the Mysterium was conceived as a weeklong performance, ‘a grandiose religious synthesis of all arts which would herald the birth of a new world.’
“I am the apotheosis of world creation. I am the aim of aims, the end of ends” - Aleksandr Scriabin.
On the MYSTERIUM:
"There will not be a single spectator. All will be participants. The work requires special people, special artists and a completely new culture. The cast of performers includes an orchestra, a large mixed choir, an instrument with visual effects, dancers, a procession, incense, and rhythmic textural articulation. The cathedral in which it will take place will not be of one single type of stone but will continually change with the atmosphere and motion of the Mysterium. This will be done with the aid of mists and lights, which will modify the architectural contours." - Aleksandr Scriabin
FAQs:
Q. Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
A. Unfortunately not - to make up for this, our cellist is offering a private, free concert for anyone who is physically unable to attend this event.
Q. Is it family-friendly (kids and dogs allowed?)
A. Not overly - the space is quite daunting and scary, with an extended period in the dark. We recommend a lower-age limit of 13 years old. Dogs are welcomed if they are on the quieter side!
Q. Will there be flickering/strobe lights?
A. No - but there will be moments of near-complete darkness!
Q. How loud will it be?
A. There will be a lot of amplification in several of the rooms, meaning it will get quite loud - not as loud as a club, not as quiet as a small house concert.
Q. Does buying a ticket put me on your mailing list?
A. Yes - you're automatically added to the Mailing List which is used extremely rarely, and ONLY for notification of this event and similar (in line with GDPR requirements). We will never use, abuse, or sell your information (least of all because we don't know how to, nor do we have any desire or interest therein).
Q. Will there be drinks available at the venue?
A. Yes! There's a bar open for drinks at entrance that you can bring with you.
Q. Can I access a press pass?
A. If you work in the media and are interested in attending our event, please email info@1781collective.com for any requests!
Q. Can I buy a ticket at the door?
A. Yes! Though as every event has previously sold out, we highly recommend purchasing a ticket beforehand to ensure you receive your place.
Q. Can I return tickets?
A. We don't offer refunds unless it's absolutely necessary - but you can transfer your ticket to other folks with no issues!
Q. Why is my payment not working? Is there a fault with the site?
A. Possibly - we've had complaints from PayPal users who have reported the browser crashing. This could be a combination of using the wrong browser and/or having AdBlocker installed and activated. If it doesn't work, please try a different browser, and if not get in contact with info@1781collective.com and we'll get it sorted out with Universe!
