This summer, Neon Dreams has perfected the “oscillation overthruster” and wants to send you hurtling through a mountain at light speed. Come along for an outrageous ride through space and time led by physicist/neurosurgeon/test pilot/musician Buckaroo Banzai (Peter Weller) and his rock band of gun-toting scientists. Ellen Barkin, Christopher Lloyd, Clancy Brown, and and the most adorable Jeff Goldblum (sporting a giant cowboy hat) you’ve ever seen round out a cast of likeable oddballs who join forces to save the world from the evil clutches of Dr. Emilio Lizardo (John Lithgow) and his gaggle of interdimensional aliens.
So buckle up, and prepare to blown out of this world with what N.Y. Times, on its release in 1984, called “an extremely genial, witty example of the science-fiction farce, which includes the current Repo Man and the virtually seminal Liquid Sky.”
