Oakhurst is an American bluegrass-rock band from Denver, Colorado. Founded by singer/songwriter AP Hill and bassist Johnny James Qualley in 1999, Oakhurst became a full-time internationally touring act in 2005 and has produced six records. Their most recent album is Barrel (2012), which was produced in Nashville, Tennessee by Joe Pisapia and ToyBoX studios with. The band spikes traditional bluegrass with folk and rock with a kamikaze rhythmic sensibility and pointed harmonies. The band has shared stage performances with Zach Brown, The Infamous String Dusters, and Green Sky Bluegrass Band -- among many others -- and has an uncanny drive to keep the listeners seatless, engaged, and fullly wrapped up in the lyrical twist. Band members Chuck Hugenberg (Fiddle), Matthew "Coop" Cooper (Banjo) and long-time drummer Andrew Clapp (the most influential members over the years) have shaped the sound of one of Denver's bluegrass performance staples.
