Description
The Sacred Space Miami in collaboration with The Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine proudly present this collaborative offering feauring Barry Michels. In this lecture, Barry Michels will explain why negative thinking is so powerful and what you can do about it. He will teach you to dissolve negativity and replace it with an ongoing sense that there is something greater than you on your side – something that wants you to succeed. You will learn to deploy the awe-inspiring power of gratitude.
We have all heard about the beneficial effects of gratitude. Research shows that gratitude improves physical and psychological health, increases empathy and reduces aggression, which in turn strengthens all of the relationships in your life.Gratitude improves self-esteem and has even been shown to enhance sleep and mental acuity.
Why, then, is gratitude in such shockingly short supply? According to the National Science Foundation, a staggering 80% of our everyday thoughts are negative! As a veteran psychotherapist with over 50,000 patient hours, I bear witness to the daily parade of negativity that comes through my office. Despite the fact that most of my patients are highly successful individuals with a lot to be grateful for, all of them consistently fall into the rut of chronic negativity – plagued with regrets, worries, pessimism, self-flagellation, etc.
