For the first time, Off The Record will be staging live music showcases which will allow for some of Scotland’s youngest and most exciting emerging talent to perform in a professional setting. For those attending OTR Dundee, the showcase will follow on from the daytime conference & entry is guaranteed with your ticket. Entry to just the showcase is free - tickets are limited to one per person/email address. If you would like to bring a friend, please ask them to register separately.

From the moment Katie Lynch and Mark Johnston met aged 12, they have been inseparable. They didn’t know where it would lead, but they knew that the road ahead of them would lead somewhere. It had to.
And in a wonderful piece of serendipity, as their home town of Dundee emerges as a rejuvenated cultural hotspot, ST.MARTiiNS emerge as one of Scotland’s most exciting and intriguing new bands. For them, music is an island. Their island. Somewhere to escape to. Like the island of St. Maarten which (at least in part) explains their name. “We like language and the way words sound, and we like to play with that” says Katie about their name and lyrics.
With influences as disparate as The Cure, Bombay Bicycle Club, Grizzly Bear, The Cocteau Twins, Clairo and Crowded House is hard to put their music in a convenient box. Their songs can be simultaneously sparse but rich, layered and simple and it’s often the space between the notes that are most important. Mark plays his guitar like an orchestra, pulling from it sounds that make his style as distinctive as Katie’s gossamer vocals (for which her theatre background may have something answer for). Electronica, pop, jazz, alternative, sunny, cloudy...it’s mood music, whatever your mood. But whatever it is, it’s arresting.
WALT DISCO
In the short time they have been together, Walt Disco have already shot far far ahead of expectations. Having gained notoriety for their drama-filled and unpredictable live shows, the band earned early support from BBC Radio Scotland and have been praised by NME, Clash, and Wonderland. Having taken this theatrical live show on tour across the UK, from late sets at Bestival to support slots with acts including Her’s, Sports Team and The Blinders. PARLIAMO
The band fuse a revival of rock 'n' roll guitar music with pop melodies alike to the 60's whilst carrying a punk energy and huge echoey drums of 80's dance music, Parliamo represent an exciting take on underground pop. Whilst building a live following and a recognition for putting on energetic and memorable live performances, Parliamo play anthems by the youth, for the youth. Coming from the songwriting compound of catchy jangling guitar riffs and melodies from 18-year-old Finn Freeburn Morrison and the street poetry of frontman Jack Dailly, who, citing lyrical influences such as John Cooper Clarke and Mike Skinner, pens lyrics about growing up and being immersed in the life and culture of the defiant youth of modern Scotland. The line up is completed by Fraser Nicholson (bass), Calum Simpson (guitar) and Ben France (drums). The band say their influences include The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Fatboy Slim and Oakzy B amongst others.
SCARLETT RANDLE
Scarlett Randle, 22, hails from just outside Aberdeen in the north east of Scotland. She has quietlybeen building a fan base in Scotland with her almost vulnerable lyrical tone since she first came into prominence in 2017. Described as "having sheer warmth and elegance, and entertained with a heck of personality that was easy to feed off" Scarlett continues to rise through the musical ranks, she's one to watch in 2018 and beyond.
