Built From Scratch invites: Petros Klampanis Trio
2019 marks the release of Petros Klampanis' fourth record, entitled “Ιrrationalities”. The outcome of many years of playing music together; recording, travelling and touring with highly acclaimed musicians Kristjan Randalu and Bodek Janke. Prior to the official release we're happy to present the pre-release concert of Petros Klampanis Trio's "Irrationalities".
Named a "BASS ACE" by Bass Player Magazine, awarded composer and bassist Petros Klampanis grew up in Greece, surrounded by the confluence of Mediterranean and Balkan folk music. Βefore he emerged in the NYC jazz scene, he studied classical and jazz music in Athens, Amsterdam and New York. Now based in NYC, he is curious in his approach, always seeking unique ways to intergrade elements from multiple genres, ranging from classical music to pop. Klampanis’ varied musical life journey brings aggressive melodicism, beautiful intonation, and uniquely personal string writing.
Klampanis has collaborated with world acclaimed artists such as Snarky Puppy, Greg Osby, Jean-Michel Pilc, Shai Maestro and others.

// BUILT FROM SCRATCHIt’s a movement to discover the perfect beat and support the next generation of music makers. It engenders a more stretched understanding of Jazz, bumping against the genre’s conventions whilst remaining rooted in tradition. It represents a genre-free form of art to encompass as many musical forms and languages as we can.
