There are sanctuaries for elephants, primates, and big cats, but what about whales?
Join Dr. Lori Marino, President of the Whale Sanctuary Project, for an evening talk about this groundbreaking effort to create a new ocean sanctuary for former captive whales and for rehabilitation of wild whales in need.
Dr. Marino is an internationally known neuroscientist and researcher in animal behaviour and intelligence.
She has published over 130 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals, providing the first conclusive evidence for mirror self-recognition in bottlenose dolphins.
As President of the Whale Sanctuary Project, Dr. Marino now leads a team of internationally renowned marine mammal biologists, veterinarians and engineers dedicated to establishing a new, more humane model for the long-term care of whales and dolphins.
Advance Tickets $15 - Donations also accepted at the door with all proceeds going to the Whale Sanctuary Project.
Note: Doors open at 7pm. Lecture begins at 7:30, with Q&A session afterwards. 9:30 end time.
Presented by Vancouver Humane Society and the BC SPCA.
