Description
The Journey Home is a Dub and Slam Poetry workshop that teaches the art of performance poetry through self-discovery. Lead by dub poet Cue, the workshop follows the chapters of her book Alpha of Omega and challenges the audience to document their story of Peace, Love, Over-Standing and Home. It then teaches the performance techniques of speed, pause and intonation as tools of expressing ones poetry.
At the end of the workshop the participants will be able to document their own story using poetry using and bring it to life with performance and musical expression. The Journey Home uses the urban interdisciplinary art-form of Dub Poetry; a combination of Spoken word and Music (drumming inclusive) as the catalyst to get the Scarborough community documenting their story. It is an art art-form prevalent in the African and Caribbean communities, and will well represent Scarborough’s cultural make up.
