This series will shine light on local talent from Victoria and Vancouver Island. The third Tuesday of each month, join us for an evening of live music that will introduce you to your next local music crush! Take advantage of this opportunity to see four up & coming bands before they make it big… These bands have got that spark you won’t want to miss!
We are grateful for the generous support of the City of Victoria’s Music Strategy Fund, without which this event would not be possible.
SHARON
Once upon a time, in a small medieval town there were three young lads by the names of Shane, Marlowe and Leo. They weren't very bright, even for medieval school, so their parents sent them to see a special witch who lived up Mt Hebjecci. The witch, named Geddy Lee, used sacred magic to plant knowledge in their heads, but something went terribly wrong. Geddy Lee had cursed them! For every second Shane wasn't playing guitar, he went blind. For every second Leo wasn't playing bass, he went deaf. And for every second Marlowe wasn't playing drums, he slowly transformed into a walrus (who was also blind and deaf). As compensation for their troubles, Geddy Lee gave them the gift of immortality, which is why they are here today, playing under the name SHARON.

BABY BOY & THE EARTHLY DELIGHTS
What do surrealist painter Hieronymus Bosch and reggae have in common? Both artistic expressions are at the forefront of the roots-rock and reggae-inspired group, Baby Boy & the Earthly Delights. With wailing guitar solos, a rocksteady beat, catchy melodies, and a passion for storytelling, this electrifying band is a delight for mind and the soul.

TALEL MCBRIAR
Talel McBriar is a singer-songwriter whose sound merges traditional folk with alternative indie influences. Delivered through stirring vocals and emotive instrumentals, her lyrics are honest and cathartic as she confronts her anxieties and observations through song. "Talel effortlessly conveys her discomfort with the present times in a way I once thought required three or four times her life experience," says Josh Lehman, producer of The 6 Mile Sessions. In 2018, her original song October won a Kootenay Music Award for ‘Best Original Roots Song.’ Talel's debut EP titled Flood Season was released in the summer of 2022 via indie label Catapult Recordings.
