Description
The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Lauren Spencer-Smith to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater for a conversation about her rising career, latest and upcoming new music, creative process, musical influences, and more, in addition to a special performance.
Lauren Spencer Smith, known for intricate songwriting and powerhouse vocals, is the breakout artist of 2022. The Vancouver Island singer and songwriter’s mega-hit “Fingers Crossed,” has earned over 300 million streams globally and is on 2023 GRAMMY Watch from both Billboard and Hits for three of the Top 4 categories including Best New Artist, Song Of The Year, and Record of The Year. Kicking off 2022 with “Fingers Crossed” set the tone for a landmark year; Spencer Smith has continued releasing beautiful pop ballads in songs like “Flowers” and “Narcissist,” performed at the 2022 Juno Awards, made her late night US TV debut performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and performed at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. While this has been a year full of accomplishments for the singer songwriter, she stays true to her upbringing and roots. Lauren shares the kinds of stories typically only traded by best friends long after the sun goes down. Her unfiltered feelings resonate just as loudly as her stunning vocals do, tracing life’s ups, downs, and everything in between with sharp lyrics and even sharper melodies. Before her breakthrough year, she balanced a job, school, and teaching herself piano and guitar while prolifically posting videos to social media and eventually landing in the Top 20 on American Idol. After earning acclaim from Billboard, Genius, Stereogum, and more, Lauren properly introduces herself on a series of 2022 singles and her forthcoming full-length debut [Island Records/Republic Records].
