As he gracefully navigates between the demands of popular music gigs and the profound solitude of his solo bass compositions, Kris shares the secrets behind his unique sound, influenced by the evocative tones of cellos and other stringed instruments. Pineapple Productions is super excited to present this film, a Q&A with the film makers - AND an intimate concert with Kris Tischbein joined by Matt Ray on pedal steel guitar. What better way to celebrate the final day of Belleville Downtown DocFest than with this Watch Party and LIVE Concert! This is going to be a special night! "My vision on doing events like this one is to not only celebrate the beauty of the bass guitar but also to inspire others to embrace not only in the traditional role but also as a solo instrument. In events like this with an amazing player like Matt Ray on pedal steel guitar we can explore all of the ranges offered by the bass guitar." Kris Tischbein has written and performed music for the past 30 years. He has worked with Jake Clemons (Bruce Springsteen), Jerry Mercer (April Wine), Emm Gryner (David Bowie, solo) Adam Werner (award-winning fingerstyle guitarist), Mark Rashotte (Jake Clemons Band, Photograph), The Zone, Carl Dixon (The Guess Who, Coney Hatch), Shawn 'Deepwater' Dore, Kelly Valleau, Ian K and many others. He is an OFFICIAL RAAPT Custom Instruments ARTIST - and proudly uses D'Addario strings. "The instruments Randy (Twyman) is producing at Raapt Custom Instruments allows me to play any idea without hesitation, anything I can dream of to play or write a Raapt bass can handle." Kris is driven by his desire to make the bass a more refined instrument in groups and bridge the sound of the bass guitar into solo compositions. He is actively recording solo bass instrumentals and has released two full-length solo albums of bass instrumentals, The String Theory, The Weave and Casting Shadows. As part of instrumental trio The Zone, he also releases original music influenced by jazz, fusion, rock, bluegrass - and anything musical. "Kris is a solid, exciting, musical bass player who tackled a challenging part for a song I was recording. I was thrilled with how it came out and his playing added so much to the final result."
