ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Marvin Blickenstaff is known among piano teachers throughout the country for his publications, lectures, masterclasses, and performances. He received performance and academic honors at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (BM) and Indiana University (MM) and studied at the Frankfurt (Germany) Hochschule für Musik. He was named a Fellow of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) and received the Music Teachers National Association’s highest honor, the Achievement Award. He has been named “Teacher of the Year” in both Indiana and Pennsylvania. Blickenstaff lives in the greater Philadelphia area where he teaches in his home studio and at the New School for Music Study in Princeton.
Victor Labenske is professor of music at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU), where he has taught piano and composition on the faculty for over 35 years. A summa cum laude graduate of PLNU, he earned his master's degree in piano performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Conservatory of Music and the doctor of musical arts in piano performance at the University of Southern California. He was honored to play during the opening ceremonies of the 1984 Olympic Games. An Academic All-America Scholar, his nearly 800 published compositions and arrangements include sacred piano collections, educational piano music, and chamber, vocal, and handbell works. He remains active as a concert artist both as soloist and as a collaborative performer.
With over 450 publications and recordings, Dennis Alexander has earned an international reputation as a prolific and popular composer of educational piano music for students at all levels. He taught applied piano and piano pedagogy at University of Montana, Missoula, Cal State, Fullerton, and Cal State, Northridge. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy and the prestigious MTNA/Frances Clark Award for Keyboard Pedagogy for his two collections of Nocturnes for Piano. He was invited to conduct the intermediate masterclass at the MTNA National Conference in Reno, Nevada, in 2023. He lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he maintains a studio of adult students and continues to present workshops for local, state, and national organizations.
