It’s an 8km swim from Güzelçamli, Turkey to the Greek Island of Samos. That’s 160 lengths of an Olympic sized swimming pool.
Swim is a new creation in-development by Jivesh Parasram and Tom Arthur Davis that imagines the effects of migration on the self. Originally conceived as a performance event with a live endurance swimming audience component, Swim is being reimagined as an audio meditation in motion for the SummerWorks Lab.
The SummerWorks presentation of Swim is a virtual event. Attendees will be able to access Swim as an audio file and detailed script, to read/listen to on their own time. At 8:00pm EST that day, join Pandemic Theatre on Zoom for a live streaming of the audio, followed by a Q&A with the creators.
ASL interpretation will be available for the 8pm livestream.
Co-creators : Jivesh Parasram & Tom Arthur Davis
Collaborators: David Mesiha, Gavan Cheema, Tim Carlson
Presented in partnership with Why Not Theatre and Theatre Conspiracy, with thanks to Crow’s Theatre for previous development support.
Part of the SummerWorks Lab programming – a place for exploration, experimentation, and process. In the Lab, you can experience new works in development from artists exploring new possibilities in performance.
