The 1781 Collective Presents… A stimulating sensory experience: classical music perceived through the five major senses of sound, sight, scent, touch, and taste. Chris Lloyd (1781 Collective) and Annabel Guiata (Grieg Academy of Music, Norway), present a unique concert experience, where the audience is invited to connect to the music and each other, through five acts that highlight each individual sense. WHAT: A sensory concert experience. An intimate and interactice classical piano concert at the magnificent Neo-Brutalist Lobe Block. The two musicians will present a curated five-act programme that focuses and celebrates the five individual senses, each accompanied by a selected piano work; whilst investigating the potential of sensory stimulation to heighten our connection to the music and each other. WHY: Music has often been described as the language of emotion: that is, one of its primal funcitons is on the metaphysical levels. If sound alone can affect our emotional state, what can happen if we integrate scent (nostalgic), or physical (taste, touch, sight) perception to further integrate our connection with the work? HOW: Simply purchase your ticket, and come along! The bar at Lobe Block will be open both before and after the performance (which will last roughly 60 minutes) serving their excellent wine and beverage selections. Arrive between 19:00-20:00 (the performance will commence at 20:00), and stay afterwards to drink and chat! This is a one night only performance, with only 40 tickets available. Previous events have always sold well, so don’t delay! ABOUT THE 1781 COLLECTIVE: 1781 is an international collective of musicians and interdisciplinary artists. Launched in Autumn 2018, its mission is to explore new listening and performance methods; offer an alternative to the traditional music industry for both audiences and creators; and facilitate education through a committed platform and network for collaboration.
