What is Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention?
TCAFP is a program designed in 1996 by Dr. Paul Lam and now endorsed by many Arthritis Foundations worldwide, the US Centers for Disease Control, the National Council on Aging and the Administration on Aging as one of their highest level. evidence-based programs for health promotion and disease prevention. Scientific studies have shown this program relieves pain/ stiffness, improves physical function and lowers stress. In this instructor recertification workshop, participants will receive instruction and certifications in one or more of the following: Tai Chi for Arthritis programs — emphasis on Fall Prevention, Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for Arthritis part 2.
What to expect in this instructor recertification workshop: This workshop is not designed to help you relearn the sequence. You will be expected to demonstrate the complete sequence. You will have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of the postures in this program.
Pre-workshop Homework: After you register, you will receive an email with homework questions to complete before attending the workshop.
** Additional cost for training: Materials will be purchased by participants.
***After qualified: Board fee to Institute - Board Certification Instructor fee is not paid until after the workshop to TCHI (not trainer) to allow name to be posted on website so the Institute and employers know you are current on certifications. Current cost: $40 AUS
Who may attend:
This workshop is designed for Tai Chi for Health Instructors who need to update their certification. It is also open to those who want to learn more about TCA but do not want to be certified.
About the Instructor:
Hong Yang, PhD, MBA, Taichi Master
Hong is the founder of the Tai Chi Zen Institute. As a family internal Taiji inheritor, she has been studying Taiji since she was five years old. Hong is a world Taiji champion in hand forms, sword forms, and push hands. She has been integrating Taoism philosophy and Traditional Chinese Medicine studies into her personal Taiji practice and her teaching. She also serves as a Master Trainer for the international Tai Chi for Health Institute. Hong earned her doctorate in integrative traditional medicine at Nan Jing University of Chinese Medicine. Her research focuses on the relationships among Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taoism, and Taiji Quan. In recent years, Hong has been creating and teaching seminars and workshops to integrate Taiji Quan, Taiji steps, Taiji sword, ancient qigong, and Taiji-related philosophy based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoism. Fees:
The recertification fee for Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention is $165.
Just for Fun (no Instructor Certification) fee is $130.
Additional recertifications for Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention Part 2, Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for Energy are available for $50 each.
