The Cannabis Society’s Virtual Conference Marketplace is connecting growth stage C-Suite with our worldwide network!
With the goal to unite the global cannabis community, The Cannabis Society will leverage its virtual conference platform to facilitate capital injection, joint venture opportunities, and distribution agreements between executives across international markets. The conference will provide attendees access to leading cannabis experts through keynotes, panel discussions, and one-on-one breakout meetings through the virtual conference platform.
TCS will host worldwide virtual conferences bi-monthly for the cannabis industry in international markets including Canada, US West Coast, US East Coast & Mid-West, Europe, Australia & New Zealand, South America, and more.

James McMillan, VP Business Development of Hexo Corp
James McMillan brings more than 20 years of executive experience in strategic sales, marketing and business development with an entrepreneurial spirit, strong negotiating skills, and expertise in developing growth markets to his role as our Vice-President for Business Development. A graduate of Concordia University (Bachelor of Commerce, Marketing/Finance), James has an established track-record of creating successful business development opportunities, building growth organizations, and establishing lasting customer relationships in diverse fields including communications, emerging technologies, energy management and now cannabis across both Canada and international markets.
As Vice-President for Business Development, James plays a leading role in identifying strategic opportunities in the expanding cannabis market. From the development of new and innovative product lines for the medical and recreational markets, to building strong relationships with commercial partners, James is responsible for establishing and expanding our market position in Canada and beyond.
David Friedman, Founder, Panther Capital
David Friedman is the CEO of VividGro, a leader in advanced-applications of Agricultural technology (AgTech). Friedman is also the founder of the Panther Funds which have invested over $10 Million in 20 cannabis companies. Friedman is the former CEO of MJIC (now Manifest7) and successfully managed the company’s restructuring in 2015/2016. He also co-created the current algorithm for the Marijuana Stock Index for MJIC. Friedman is an investment and operations executive with over 25 years in venture capital, mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance. As CEO of VividGro, David is exploring the new frontier of the business of AgTech, an industry that is exploding with the recent legalization of cannabis across the nation and the effort to feed an ever increasing population. David has appeared on numerous networks and news programs as a leader in the business of cannabis, as well as running his own cannabis media organization and summit series.
Ben Futoriansky, Canopy Rivers Inc.
Ben is an Associate at Canopy Rivers, the venture capital affiliate of Canopy Growth, and the largest cannabis VC fund in the world. Prior to joining Canopy Rivers, Ben was a Consultant for Accenture in their Digital Interactive group. During his time at Accenture, Ben worked across Financial Services, Media & Technology, Resources and Non-Profit organizations focusing on customer experience, digital strategy, and business development. Ben co-founded a travel social network start-up called DestaPlan, allowing users to visually organize trips, coordinate itineraries and share recommendations. Prior to Accenture and DestaPlan, Ben was a Strategy Analyst for Start-up Nation Central in Tel Aviv, where he actively sourced start-ups, prepared industry landscapes, and helped map the Israeli ecosystem. He holds a Bachelor of Business from the Schulich School of Business at York University specializing in Strategy and Finance. He sits on the board of Birthright Excel, a lifelong business fellowship program.
Matthew Rosenberg, Tekening Capital
Dr. Matthew Rosenberg invests in private and public entities. He manages Tekening Capital, is a partner in Cannect and serves as a strategic adviser to Thalys, a multi billion Shanghai exchange traded Chinese medical technology and distribution company, among others. He previously founded and sold a cloud based SaaS solution. Beforehand, he worked at McKinsey & Company, where he advised clients in the payor, provider, medical device and pharmaceutical industries. In addition, he served as an Independent Director of a publicly traded medical device company. Matthew received his bachelors Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard and his MD from Yale.
Andrew Roche, VP of Finance at Poseidon
At Poseidon, Andy, CPA, Notary Public, is the VP of Finance. In this role, he has worked on the diligencing of well over 100 companies, overseeing 20+ investments and reviewed hundreds of businesses across all verticals of the cannabis industry. Andy is skilled in financial modeling and venture capital financings as well as passionate about the underlying science, a skillset he leverages in understanding the cannabis industry from an empirical perspective.
Additionally, Andy leads Poseidon's accounting operations, overseeing monthly and quarterly NAV, annual audit, as well as tax return preparation. Andy works closely with many of Poseidon's portfolio companies, providing support as needed.
Prior to joining Poseidon, Andy was an auditor for Deloitte and Touche in their New York City office. At Deloitte, Andy was a member of the lead audit engagement of a large public company getting detailed experience in the financial close and reporting process. During his last 10-K audit, Andy spearheaded the audit of a multi-billion dollar diversified investments portfolio. His critical perspective as auditor lends valuable insight tothe due diligence process as well as a platform for providing meaningful assistance to Poseidon’s portfolio companies.
During his undergrad, Andy received his BS in accounting at the State University of New York at Geneseo. Andy spent summers interning at an electronics component manufacturing company in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, as well as a healthcare imaging company in Rochester, NY.
Spencer Maclean, VP Investor Relations, HempFusion
Spencer MacLean is a consultant, Vice President of Investor Relations at HempFusion and former Director of Investor Relations at The Green Organic Dutchman Holdings Ltd. (TSX: TGOD). Spencer is a member of the RADD Capital team that has raised $700,000,000 for cannabis/hemp companies to date. Prior to working in the cannabis/hemp CBD sector, Mr MacLean spent five years at a premier Canadian boutique law firm. Spencer is a member of both the Canadian Bar Association and Law Society of British Columbia.
Howard Katz, Managing Director, Mackie Research Capital
Howard is a 20 year capital markets veteran with a broad range of experience including both financing and advisory mandates to a wide range of sectors in the Canadian markets. Howard also has extensive management experience as a successful CEO having profitably sold his privately-held company in 2016. As a senior investment banker, Howard has led or co-managed billions of dollars in the junior and mid-cap sector in Canada. Howard is focused on the technology sector and special situations, providing advisory and finance solutions to clients, whereby leading management teams can share their successes with investors. Howard is a graduate of Yeshiva University, and earned his MBA from the Schulich School of Business.
Joyce Cenali, Founding Partner and Chief Operating Officer for Big Rock Partners
Joyce leads operations at Big Rock Partners, a strategic advisory firm serving investors and companies at the intersection of food, hospitality and cannabis. Their portfolio includes PharmaCann, Cannacraft, Phylos, Kikoko, Sonoma Hills Farm, Garden Society, Sava, and others. She previously founded a boutique artist management firm, and lead business development, licensing and partner integrations for e-commerce start-ups. A long time craft cannabis cultivator, she co-founded an Emerald Cup winning operation, and served as Co-Chair for Women Grow, Sonoma. She attended Smith College, and lives with her wife and puppy children in San Francisco.
Steven Yoo, VP, Corporate Development, Tilray
Steven Yoo, CFA joined Tilray in June 2019 to manage the corporate development efforts, which includes M&A and strategic partnerships. From 2015 to 2019, Steven was a Director at Privateer Holdings, which is the parent company of Tilray and one of the first institutionally-backed private equity firms in the cannabis space. Prior to joining the cannabis industry, Steven worked for more than 10 years in the private equity and financial consulting space.
Peter Luber, Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Marin Financing LLC
Mr. Luber is a co-founder and managing partner of Marin Financing LLC. Previously, he was a co-founder and portfolio manager at Post Street Capital Management, a long/short equity hedge fund from 2013-2015. Prior to the founding of Post Street Capital Management, Mr. Luber was an analyst and a portfolio manager at Weintraub Capital Management in San Francisco from 2002 to 2012. At WCM, Peter managed a portfolio focusing on the financial services, energy and industrial sectors. Prior to WCM, Peter was an Associate with Chase Securities, Inc. in their High Yield Corporate Finance Group. At Chase, Peter focused on underwriting and analyzing the debt associated with acquisitions, recapitalizations and capital investment. Peter received his B.A. in economics from Colby College and his MBA from the University of California Berkeley Haas School of Business.
Krishnan Varier, Principal, Arcadian Fund
Krishnan joined Arcadian in 2018 to help lead our principal investing activities, including deal sourcing, due diligence and negotiations, bringing more than 15 years of financial services and Wall Street deal-making experience and knowledge. For much of his career, Krishnan served as a healthcare investment banker in relationship coverage roles with Cowen, BofA-Merrill Lynch and Morgan Keegan and has completed more than $6 billion in closed capital raising and M&A transactions.
Krishnan began independently working with companies in the cannabis industry in 2016 in varying capacities as a private investor, mentor, advisor and consultant.
Krishnan completed his undergraduate studies in 2001 at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a B.A. in Economics with a focus in Business Administration. He initially gained experience as a wealth manager for AXA Advisors, and later with the Austin-based brokerage firm Eltekon Financial. He then joined Bank of America’s Global Corporate Bank in Charlotte, NC, as part of its Treasury Solutions Group inside sales team covering large-cap industrial corporate clients. Krishnan also holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Kenan-Flagler Business School, with a double-focus in Finance and Investment Management.

Greg Allen is one of the co-founders and is a Senior Executive of the Medical Marijuana Investments Fund. He is responsible for corporate development, strategic marketing, sales and business development and product strategy.
Greg has gained significant experience during his thirty years in capital markets. He was a top ranking money broker for ten years before making the transition to corporate finance where he assisted a variety of companies in various sectors raise money and list on a number of international stock exchanges.
Greg Allen has long standing relationships with a range of specialists who can assist in the capital raising process, including brokers, financial planners, corporate lawyers, insolvency specialists, scientific advisers, media consultants and technical writers.
After surviving stage 4 melanoma Greg made the conscious decision to support a number of medical cannabis companies due to his positive experience with the plant while he was sick.
