About the speakers:
A Toronto native, Coinsquare CEO Cole Diamond aims to build Coinsquare into a 21st century financial institution that disrupts how the financial services industry operates. He is a serial entrepreneur, now launching his third company, with a proven track record of taking companies from nothing to millions of dollars in monthly revenue. In 12 short months, Cole has led Coinsquare to 150 employees, 300k+ users, and $55M+ in funding, opening Coinsquare up for being in the conversation for Canada's fastest growing company. Cole speaks on panels and keynotes regularly for the FinTech scene in North America. Further, he has built a transparent and entrepreneurial culture within Coinsquare in order to build the best technology company in Canada.
Trevor Koverko is the Founder and CEO of Polymath. As well as a prominent blockchain founder, investor and speaker. After launching his career at the convergence of Wall Street and Silicon Valley, Trevor became a very early leader in the blockchain community - financing foundational projects like Ethereum, EOS and Shapeshift. In 2017, after predicting the mega-trend of financial securities migrating to the blockchain, Trevor cofounded Polymath - the worlds largest security token platform. Prior to Polymath, Trevor’s Oculus Rift-based project became one of the world's first VR exits. Trevor graduated from Canada’s leading business school, Ivey, and was an NHL draft pick of the New York Rangers.
Kaushik "KV" Venkatadri leads the Blockchain Centre of Excellence at RBC. He has a Masters in Computer and Information Technology from the University of Pennsylvania and has worked in the IT industry since 1998, starting as a developer. He spent a number of years working with Wall Street banks in New York City before moving to Toronto. His current role allows him to combine his two passions of financial technology and distributed systems.
Kevin Zhang is a seasoned blockchain developer for ConsenSys. He has spent the last 6 years working as a full-stack developer and in the last 3 have dedicated his time to blockchain technology. He has previously worked at TD Bank as a blockchain developer and startups like SugarCRM as a software developer. Kevin has spent his time focusing on FinTech through foreign exchange and blockchain technology. In the past few years, he has dedicated his time learning the intricacies of distributed ledgers and how they can be applied to various industries, particularly in banks. Kevin graduated from the University of Waterloo studying Systems Design Engineering.
Behram Faroogh is a Partner in the Risk Assurance Services practice in PwC Canada. A Chartered Accountant by profession, with over 25 years of experience that spans from the shop floor to the Board room, Behram has conducted assignments that consider the interplay, optimization and oversight of strategy, people, systems and processes. He has acquired highly developed skills in Information Technology by serving clients at the forefront of constantly evolving, disruptive and emerging technologies and has witnessed resultant business impact on digital trust and business transformation.
Rubsun Ho is the Chief Crowd Pleaser at Crowdmatrix; a regulated, online investment portal that makes it easy for individuals to access alternative investments that were traditionally only available to professional investors. For example, Crowdmatrix is currently hosting an offering for the Matco Cannabis Investment Fund that gives investors diversified exposure to companies across the spectrum of the cannabis industry.
Eunika Sot is the COO of Yuser, and is passionate about blockchain education, applying economic principles to system design, and the implications that tokenization of assets will have on the future of technology. With years of social media experience, she has been utilizing her knowledge about the influencer space to solve issues with current social media platforms through the application of blockchain technology. She has had multiple roles at Yuser utilizing her extensive writing and editorial experience, as well as managing accounts of social influencers, expanding the client/advisory/partnership networks, and speaking at public events. She’s responsible for streamlining operations, overseeing human resources, and directional management. She’s an experienced writer with a novel in the works and an avid interest in cryptocurrency space and disruptive technologies.
Alex Mashinsky is one of the inventors of VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) with a foundational patent dating back to 1994 and is now working on MOIP (Money Over Internet Protocol) technology. Over 35 patents have been issued to Alex, relating to exchanges, VOIP protocols, messaging and communication. Alex is a serial entrepreneur and founder of seven New York City-based startups, raising more than $1 billion and exiting over $3 billion. Alex founded two of New York City’s top 10 venture-backed exits since 2000: Arbinet, with a 2004 IPO that had a market capitalization of over $750 million; and Transit Wireless, valued at $1.2 billion. Alex has received numerous awards for innovation, including being nominated twice by E&Y as ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’, in 2002 & 2011; Crain’s 2010 Top Entrepreneur; the prestigious 2000 Albert Einstein Technology medal; and the Technology Foresight Award for Innovation (presented in Geneva at Telecom 99). As one of the pioneers of web-based exchanges, Alex authored patents that cover aspects of the Smart Grid, ad exchanges, Twitter, Skype, App Store, Netflix streaming concept and many other popular web companies. Additionally, Arbinet’s fundraising story was featured as a case study in 2001 by Harvard Business School.
Edwin Saraccini is the Finance Manager for Yuser. Edwin is an avid entrepreneur looking to be a part of the next big movement in the social media and tech space. Having started a clothing brand, construction company, and participated in numerous entrepreneurial case competitions; his next move is something bigger and far more challenging than his previous ventures. The prospect of disrupting the current social media giants and being a part of the Internet 3.0 movement excited him and proved to be the opportunity he was waiting for. Currently, Edwin is entering his 4th year at the Ivey School of Business and a part of the GDip Accounting program at Western University. With a strong academic record in economics, finance, and accounting, Edwin has streamlined Yuser’s financials and accounting records. In addition, Edwin has been an integral part of designing the tokenomics for the Yuser Token. He is also continually forecasting and building Yuser’s revenue model and applying game theory incentives to the Yuser network.
Eric Lifson is the Co-Founder of Skrumble Network, has 10+ years directing global strategic marketing projects, and is now leading the team behind Skrumble Network’s innovative communication technology. Skrumble Network is solving the data ownership crisis with a completely new, secure communication-centric blockchain and decentralized media communication application.
Michael Gord - Founder and CEO, MLG Blockchain | Michael is a full stack blockchain developer, along with founder of MLG, enterprise blockchain and ICO consulting and development firm; StratX, a global liquidity solution provider; and AirdropX, a social platform for tokens to globally distribute their tokens in with airdrops. Michael was the first enterprise blockchain developer at TD Bank, one of the largest Canadian banks.
Bruce Silcoff is a Serial entrepreneur and visionary with proven track record of Incubating game-changing technology solutions, providing thought leadership and strategic guidance via board participation. He is a Pioneer in the development and execution of loyalty, recognition & incentive programs. Highly experienced in Loyalty, Health & Wellness, Private Equity, Social Media, Data, Payments and is Currently CEO of Shyft Network. Shyft is disrupting the broken way our world thinks about and manages digital identity. Shyft is a modern, secure Blockchain-based ecosystem solution that enables KYC/AML attested data transfers between those who own the data and those who use it while building credible reputations for the 3.5 billion consumers who are either under or unbanked.
