From there the latest from Veep and In the Loop writer and director Armando Iannucci, The Death of Stalin takes centre stage with its darkly absurd comedy. Recounting the last days of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, the film finds comedic gold in the chaos, anarchy and outwardly zany hijinks of Stalin’s political party and hilariously inept potential successors. Starring Steve Buscemi, Jeffrey Tambor, Michael Palin, Jason Isaacs, Rupert Friend, Paddy Considine and Andrea Riseborough, The Death of Stalin is a timely political satire, and accordingly "is by turns entertaining and unsettling, with laughs that morph into gasps and uneasy gasps that erupt into queasy, choking laughs.” (Manhola Dargis, The New York Times) With a musical performance by RubēHill Doors open at 7:00 pm, RubēHill performs at 8:00 pm, and THE DEATH OF STALIN will begin when the sun goes down (roughly around 9:00 pm). All relevant event information will be sent to the email address provided when purchasing your ticket. Tickets are non-refundable. If an Open Roof Festival event is rained out, we will communicate with ticket holders of the event via the email address provided to issue a rain check for a future screening. Open Roof organizers track weather radar closely and will be able to make a call on whether an event is rained out by 6:15pm. Ticket holders will receive an email of this outcome and it will also be communicated on our social media. In the event you are not able to attend another screening, proceeds from your tickets will be donated to the festival.
